XFL vs CFL Friendly

Agree best for the CFL . CFL loses and it’s a nothing story . They win and they get some instant credit .

NFL has no up swing though . Nothing in it for them . They win it’s a yawn they lose and they face some embarrassment .

I speculate

The injury factor is just too high today for that particular PRO league .

Too much at stake for NFL .

I take it that is the reason for the NFL lack of playing the CFL anymore ; as other pro leagues like the NHL who will play an Irish Hockey league team with their top performers for example ; it doesn’t seem to be a problem .

Same for soccer , baseball or basketball .

NFL use to play a college Allstar team till about 1974 .

Too much is at stake for the players themselves too - before the 1980s the players union either did not exist or was weak and contracts were far smaller for players including many stars.

No NFL player is going to participate in any such games, let alone the Pro Bowl stinks to high heaven but they are paid for participation by contract, without heavy compensation AND career assurance in the event of injury as happens in any play of football down to pick-up games.

Every other sport has international competition where injury is a risk.Ever watch the World Cup of rugby. That is a brutal physical sport.Maybe one day football will see the light and stage an international competition.

Ah but there is an international sanctioning body for rugby both union and league. Apples and oranges. Gridiron football is a North American sport not an international one now, so many of us won’t be around before anything of the sort happens if at all.

And then there is soccer, which shall remain king beyond both and in much of the world outside of North America, Australia, and New Zealand.
