XFL vs CFL Friendly

Soccer has friendly games...Why not The CFL vs The XFL in a friendly game.It would draw interest in America and would be fun to see

as far as I know, soccer has pretty much the same rules around the world

You can play by NCAA Rules most of the CFL has played American college ball

NOPE. A home and home aggregate series on a CFL field. The lone back half game of the series could be played in San Antonio, a venue that can host a CFL game in the US. The CFL dictates the terms of the friendly because of it’s longevity

But the XFL season finishes in April. The CFL training camps don’t start until the end of May.
Why would the CFL want to do this? what does it prove?

Have the XFL move their schedule up into the summer months as the CFL operates on the same start date. Play the Super Game on Christmas Eve and the other on New Year’s Day. Have a game the determines a true World Champion unlike the farce the NFL proclaims is championship winner

It brings awareness to the CFL in US markets that don’t have ESPN, which buries the league in coverage because they have too many leagues to cover.

And maybe possible merger like the old NFL/AFL days. The CFL is going to fight for players with the XFL after 2022. The NFL is going to expand their practice rosters to monopolize good quality football players. The CFL has to decide to object to an XFL encroachments(XFL Renegades logo and name been too similar to the old Ottawa Renegades logo and name, that has to stop) or accept the fact it can’t/won’t expand into the US for it’s imminent survival. It’s better that the XFL gets squeezed out than the CFL

[/quote] Okay and who would be yall Canadian starters since we're using yall rules?

That’s the Rock’s problem. He can sign 7 Canadians to XFL rosters for his league if he wants a friendly bad enough. You forgot that the XFL can play their own rules in half portion of the series. The Grey Cup champion with Canadian starters can and will beat the XFL champion, if they ever play a title game

Right now the Rock doesn’t have a pot to piss in and a window to throw it out of. The CFL would be doing the XFL a favour playing them to a game(s)

If the Rock wants to make a go of the XFL, he will be pandering to the USA audience. Why would you think he would want to dilute his league just to have a game against CFL?

XFL would never allow it.

The CFL players are substantially better than XFL players (top end, and on average). There are XFL/NFL fans that actually think the XFL has better talent than the CFL.

One is a good friend of mine. He's a big football fan, cfl and nfl. He is convinced the XFL is better talent. His brother is the d line coach for St Thomas Moore here in Hamilton (a football powerhouse). One of the smartest football minds I know. This fella just laughs at his clueless brother who thinks the XFL > CFL.

The Moore Coach advises correctly that is isn't even close. The top end of the XFL would be closer to the upper bottom end of the CFL.

Even playing 4 down football the last place CFL team would smash the 1st place XFL team.

It would never be allowed.

The XFL won’t move their schedule to the Summer. The entire month of February is a TV wasteland and where their best ratings were. I could perhaps see a late March/April start like the AFL had during its heyday in 2002-2008, but even then the season would end before the CFL starts up. Also, most XFL players are using the league as a stepping stone to the NFL. 20 XFL players are still on NFL active rosters with more on practice squads. Once you start cutting into NFL training camp it’ll be tough to find any suitable talent willing to suit up to play in a spring league.

Concept wise it is always interesting to think what could happen when leagues play matches

They play football everywhere, from Europe to Japan to Mexico

The issue is XFL - CFL both have far too much to lose in a game like that
(and thats not even touching on the fact the XFL has (had?) so many strange rules)

XFL is like the WHA; the league will be stacked with noname players and vastly overpaid name players (otherwise no way anyone would jump leagues). Also like the WHA the XFL looks like a lost cause (no revenue streams anywhere, Vince gave up tv, concessions, like everything).
A WLAF - CFL game would have made far more sense.
Or even a USFL - CFL game despite the imbalance.

I disagree most XFL players are from NCCA Division 1 Power 5 conference rosters…I give the talent edge to the XFL and feel they would win the game

To be honest, it wouldn’t be “must see TV” for me. Don’t remember even watching an XFL game.

There is an article in AmericanFootballInternation website on the XFL. It’s a good read. With the NFL adding a 17th game to it’s schedule, the XFL 3.0 will have to start their season on the official Spring date. The XFL would be in numerous TV viewing competition like March Madness, NHL/NBA playoffs, MLB/MLS debuts, The Masters.

It appears the mighty NFL is squeezing out the Rock’s XFL3.0 like a python smothering it’s prey

You forgot, if the Rock played a friendly with the CFL. It legitimizes Gridiron Football going Internationally known. It showcases the CFL and XFL leagues that there is more than the NFL for international viewers

With the XFL involved it downgrades the CFL profile. No.

Wherever they come from, the product and action sucks.

No thanks and may your wannabe pro football league the XFL burn down again already too. You all were going to fail like the AAF and will again, but you can keep blaming the pandemic of course.

The pandemic saved your lame launch and butts for that matter, so as perverse as it is, thank it I guess.

From a real perspective and roster the XFL has the edge over the CFL plus better coaching
