I’ll say 2-0 Argentina, either because they won’t play with 100% intensity for the whole game, or they make a fast start, It’s 2-0 by half-time, then they empty the bench and just avoid any injuries for the second half.
With Peru and Chile in the group, Canada genuinely have a shot at the knockout stage.
Very perceptive. Canada will put on the old college try but are totally out-manned.
2-0 is the logical final score as Argies will call off the dogs and empty their bench in the 2nd half. 3-0 if Canada throws in the towel late.
About 7-1 odds Canada scores a goal. If they do a national holiday may break out across the land.
If Canada holds on for a 1-0 loss, they’ll be hailed as conquering heroes. Argentina not even playing their top game. Giving Canada far too many opportunities - but under World Cup pressure, Canada wilts.
Messi’s magic on fully display but he’s a tiny bit off his game, particularly the finishes.
He was laughing at Canada’s sad ineptitude until a Canadian hobo accidentally stabbed him in his ankle.
Canada surprised me , having 2 or 3 amazing scoring opportunities but so far they’ve McIlroyd their opportunities.
I think Canada held up pretty good overall. Their fullbacks have virtually no experience playing against the top teams in the world. Bombito made a few mistakes but I would prefer it him than everyone blowing by Richie Laryea, or Kamal Miller.
Canada was fairly weak against the Argentinian counterattack. They got caught flat-footed after their own corner kick early on in the game and at the end when the Albiceleste passed it back to Emil Martinez all the way up to Messi to Lautaro Martinez for the clinical finish.
For all the hype around Alphonso Davies, I don’t think he has the scoring touch. He seems to me to be more of a disruptive wing back kind of like Tajon Buchanan.
For all the scoring talent that Cyle Larin and Jonathan David have, they don’t seem to have any chemistry which strikes me as odd given how many years they’ve been together with the national team.
Don’t write them off yet - Chile will be kicking themselves that they only got a draw with Peru.
So, if Canada can shock Chile (who aren’t quite the quality team they used to be) and beat Peru (if you think Canada has no scoring touch, you should see what Peru has to work with) then they can still make it - the toughest group game is out the way.
