Great match-up tonight between the Koe brothers, Team Alberta skipped by Kevin Koe (0-1) will face his younger brother Jamie Koe (1-0) looking for a win to avoid a second loss. Should be a good game.

Not if team Saskatchewan skipped by Mike Mcewan has anything to say about it.

Yes indeed, the Saskatchewan rink is playing exceptionally well/excellent shots. The Manitoba rink skipped by Carruthers who plays tomorrow is looking good also.

And the skip of the Saskatchewan rink, Mike McEwen, is a life long Manitoban and a mercenary for Saskatchewan. So 4 Manitoba rinks in the Scotties and 3 in the Brier. I’ll cheer for McEwen if the other Manitoba rinks are eliminated, although Mike has a hard luck record closing out the big ones.

Interestingly, Gushue at 1-2 and especially Kevin Koe at 1-3 will both have to battle to make the playoffs. Meanwhile Koe’s brother from up north is sitting pretty in the catbird seat at 3-1 so far.

Half way through the round robin match-ups between the teams in group A and B. The leading rinks respectively so far are Sask. and Northern Ontario sitting at 4-1.

I miss the Norrrrrrrthern Ontaaaaarrrrrio guy.

Does anyone know why there are multiple Alberta teams?

There are early team qualifying play downs after the 2023 Brier leading up to the 2024 Brier. Just type-in Curling Canada Brier Qualifiers on google for more information.

Abbey has partially answered it but in addition to the provincial winners and Team Canada, there are several (3?) spots available for the highest teams in the curling rankings not already in the field. There are also 2 Manitoba teams, 3 if you count Saskatchewan. Because Gushue is Team Canada there are two Newfoundland teams as well. There were 4 Manitoba teams in the Scotties.

The top three men’s teams in the National rankings at the conclusion of the season gain early entry into the 2025 Brier in Kelowna B.C. along with the 2024 Champion. Rankings are based on points earned from tour events over the course of a season. I hope this explains things a little better. Cheers

Perhaps in the Tournament Final - Team Canada :canada: vs Saskatchewan

Prolly Old Goo (Gushue) vs. The Smarmy Man (Bottcher) in the final

McEwen & Dunstone will be served up as their playoff victims!

Tonite - Bottcher tied w/ Manitoba (Jacobs) after 7

However, looks like a Bottcher win on the horizon.

Bottcher’s fine 3rd, Marc Kennedy obliterating Reid Carruthers at 3rd.

Manitoba with a steal of 1 now leads AB 3-2

As Dr. Seuss might say:

THE PROOF IS ON THE ROOF

WHERE IS THE ROOF, SHE SAYS

ITS UNDERNEATH THE PROOF

YOU KNOW

THE PROOF THATS ON THE ROOF

WHEN YOU FIND THE ROOF

YOU’LL FIND THE PROOF

AND EVEN MORE

SAID THE BOAR

This could be applied to Curling Canada and the bizarre new playoff format for the Scotties and the Brier. I have no idea what is going on. Perhaps a lawyer could explain it.

Team Canada :canada: Gushue is on the verge of booking a spot in the Tournament Final - with a steal of 1 in the 8th end to lead 6-3 over AB Bottcher.
