WILDCAT FORMATION ADOPTED

…hmmmmm I’m liking this for the BigBlue…a guy like Lefors, with his 4.7 speed in the 40 makes this formation a great plus…His running ability along with Reids and Smith setting-up in the backfield, could prove to be very frustrating for the opposition… Also with the size of our o line…we should be able to push some people around and open some nice holes… good luck to teams who are weak against the run…they could get carved up pretty good…  :rockin:

With other rule changes…the kicking game is also going to be very important along with the return game… I hope Armstead is back and these new kickers work out…

Do you think that Winnipeg will even test it out this year? And you’re not running a wildcat with the QB in there, the point of the formation is that the QB isn’t involved. (see Miami using Ronnie Brown)

....This is the CFL...not the nfl...and we haven't tried to run it yet...a little early to prononce how its gonna look ...don't ya think....HOWEVER....IF THE QB. IS SET UP DIFFERENTLY IN THE BACKFIELD (NOT OVER CENTRE)....and 'if' only as a decoy on certain plays....the qb. is certainly involved ,.... wouldn't you say..

...Kelly has also been quoted as saying he favours this type of formation.....i believe we'll see it implemented in 09...

If you're just going to give the QB the green light to run then it's not the Wildcat formation. Otherwise all those running QBs the CFL has seen over the past 30 years would've all been running an illegal play. The Edmonton Sally Rand play has been a staple of the playbook since Warren Moon.

Here Papa, if you want to see what Wildcat formation looks like, also some interesting comments from Sparano on how it was introduced out of "despair". He also comments that his assistant Lee brought it with him from Arkansas. I think it has some great applications on the CFL field but with 4 hour practice limits. I don't know that you will see a lot of it but it would be cool.

Here is the formation broken down

QB doesn’t have to line up behind centre anymore, being the biggest difference.

....... right pigseye... due to the leagues recent changes for the 09 season.......which seems to be escaping a few posters on this topic......
