The Edmonton Eskimos have signed K Sean Whyte. Don't know if on active or practice roster.

As per the Eskimos roster, Sean is on the active roster.

Grant Shaw is hurt, so Whyte is going to play on Monday.

From yesterday's Edmonton Sun:

“It was tough, I had one of the best camps I’ve ever had and I thought I did enough to keep my spot.

“When I got released, it was actually a breath of fresh air. I didn’t feel comfortable in Montreal anymore, I didn’t feel like I was wanted. It’s good to feel wanted again and it’s good to be playing. It’s tough sitting at home watching.?

Sean did have a good camp, Boris simply took away the job.

I wish Sean the best. He was a “good soldier” between TC and getting cut. While it would be easy to say that was because he was getting paid, but we all know the paycheque isn’t always enough (whether or not the player has a valid gripe).

Tant mieux pour Whyte qui est un bon gars.

Cela dit, je crois que les unités spéciales d'Edmonton viennent de prendre un sérieux recul.

As Whyte gave the Eskimos their game winning FG today from 53 yards with 0:05 on the clock I would say that he does not have to think about flag football anytime soon.

Do you play ball hockey instead?

I'll keep Bee. But it was nice of Sean to help keep our hopes alive.

Whyte has always been an accurate field goal kicker. His issue is lack of leg strength that gives opponents an opportunity for a big return. In fact, one of his kicks today was returned for a TD. It gets worse when the weather gets cold and the field becomes slippery. I bet Brandon Banks wishes Whyte were still with the Als.

In a previous game at Commonwealth, I recall it was a very windy day. Esks spent an entire quarter backed up at their own goal line. Brings back memories.
