Why not free tickets to Calgary Toronto Game?

I love all Toronto sport teams EXCEPT the Argos, what’s wrong with that? If Hamilton had an NHL or MLB team I’d cheer for them, but the Leafs and Blue Jays are geographically the closest teams I can support.

Not unbelievable at all. Perfectly reasonable actually. The Ti-Cats are my local CFL team - the team I read coverage about almost daily in the media I read and on the TV I watch and they are are the team whose games I can and do go to a few times a year to cheer them on.

In the NFL - that is the Buffalo Bills - so I am a Bills fan and went to their game two weeks ago and will go to another one in early JAnuary.

In the NHL - it is the Leafs. All their games are on TV locally, the media in this region is flooded with information about them, I go to a couple of games each year just an hour away. It makes WAY MORE sense I be a fan of that team rather than any other NHL team.

NBA - same thing. The Raptors are the 'local' team.

MLS - TFC are the local team.

And of course the Jays in basebball are the local team.

Makes perfect sense to me with where I live to be a fan of the Cats, the Bills, the Leafs, the Raptors, the Jays and TFC. They are MY HOME TEAMS.

Toronto is a great city. I just hate the double blew team.

As I said earlier, the blew team is the only professional "big sport" team from Toronto with which we can compete. Hamilton does not have an NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, or MLS team that can play Toronto. Heck, as the old joke goes, Hamilton will never get an NHL team because Toronto will want one. I grew up with loving the Tiger-Cats, Blue Jays, Canadiens, Packers, and the Raiders as my favourite pro-sport teams. For crying out loud, my GRANDPARENTS took me to both my first Tiger-cats and Blue Jays games! With the loss of the Expos in Montreal, the Blue Jays have become "Canada's baseball team", and it's about time they pulled up their socks and became competitive again. It just sucks that the owners of their current stadium are so CFL-harsh, and the blew team has to be as nomadic as WE were in 2013-2014.

What IS disgusting is the fact that more blew team fans couldn't be bothered to make the trip to cheer on their team in a state-of-the-art stadium during a championship race.

The same thing happened in 1996 when the Grey cup was here in Hamilton with Toronto playing Edmonton, that cup couldn’t sell out because there weren’t enough Toronto fans willing to travel 45 minutes to see their team in the cup. Tim Hortons bought a lot of seats and sold them at a cheaper price and still only Hamilton fans bought them. It was great because everyone hates the Argos, so the fans all cheered for Edmonton, chants of Eskee Weee were heard loud.

Agreed they should have given out at least 10,000 free tickets to parents and kids from the GTA and Toronto area who normally couldn’t attend because of cost constraints or underprivaledged kids.

After hearing today on the talk AM 640 Sports in Toronto that the attendance last night was only 3500 in Hamilton at Tim Horton’s Field congratulations to the CFL fans from the Hamilton area that showed up but pretty sad for Toronto Argo fans once again.

It’s pretty disgusting for so called Argo fans, you get a top rated sports venue to hold your home game because your regular spot the Roger’s Centre wasn’t available and all you can must muster are a few Argo fans? Pretty Embarrassing and disgusting for a professional sports team from a city that’s five times or more bigger than Hamilton.

You would think at least the Argo’s could get 10-15,000 fans out for the 45 minute drive to Hamilton to support their team.

Look at the Tiger-Cats when their new stadium was being built and games were played in Guelph and they filled the stadium at the U of Guelph, with most Cat fans travelling up to an hour or so to attend a home game.

Toronto doesn’t deserve a CFL team, what will the Argo’s do next year if the FC make the playoffs again and bump the team from BMO Field like they are now with Rogers?

Yes the attendance is terrible for a professional sports team, however, the relocation of the game was only confirmed a few days earlier, and had competition in the market. As mentioned previously the Jays were playing at the same time. Also not everyone can adjust their schedules that quickly to make a trek to another city and invest the extra time and money to get there. For the Argo fans in attendance I hope they all enjoyed the facilities. (ON a side note all the Tiger-cat fans around me were also checking their phones for score updates for the Jays game)

I was sitting up in the upper level, and was disappointed with some of the Tiger-cat fans sitting around me. I am all for cheering against the Argos team... but when you engage in nonsense talk to the Argo fans who just came all the way down the highway to another city to watch their team because they have to deal with ROGERS and the BS that it is, I found it very distasteful. Why the hate for fans of another CFL team? The same people complain they don't have enough fans. When they go to a game and then are verbally abused you think they want to come back this week? The one Argo fan in front actually said he brought his children to a game in Hamilton in the past where they were threatened with violence and didn't return to a CFL game for another 5 years. So being a fan of the CFL please be considerate to other fans of our great league.

As has been mentioned time and time again here... without a strong CFL team in Toronto, the league would be in trouble. Hopefully the move to BMO next year and the new ownership with a solid marketing plan can lift the Argos organization back up.

Wish the Bulldogs got consideration in here. Missed a couple real barn burners vs London and Kingston this year.

One entire side of the stadium was empty. It was more like a highschool game. Friday night will be even worse. Who is going to drive from TO in Friday night rush hour traffic to get to THF? They should give tix to local kids to try and attract some future fans to the CFL.

An Argo-Cat fan

Im starting to have second thoughts on this.
The only thing worse than a league in trouble, is this situation. The Argos are in BRUTAL shape and the league/media/personalities are doing everything in their power to prop the Argos up. If I have to read one more time that Owens 1 handed catch is “possibly the greatest catch of all time” and one more advertisement for the 104th Grey Cup at BMO next year im going to puke, and people can say “its because you hate the Argos” but realistically, there isn’t another CFL team that would get this type of attention considering their own city/region couldn’t care one bit what the team does.
