Banjo Bowl is played on an NFL Sunday. Which game would you put up against the NFL, BC vs Montreal or the Banjo Bowl which is one of the most popular games on the schedule even outside the prairies.
I guess they could have it on a SAT. Edmonton was able to get the week after Labor Day game moved from friday niigh to saturday Nigt but they had the health of the player issue as stated reason. playing monday and then friday night. it doeas give the teams 4 rather than 3 days between games.
There would be some pros to move the game to saturday. Probably not enough to move the game from sunday. For traveling Rider fans. Much easier to have friday night and all day saturday to go to winnipeg for a game on sunday.
Just looking at the schedule..
Switch BC @ Ott/Fri to Ott@BC/Fri; play double header Fridya by moving Mont/Ham to Friday.
Give your two biggest rivalry games in the CFL then rivalry Saturday, with no competition from the NFL. I mean, they are ways to make that weekend as enjoyable as it is for the Bombers fans the weekend before. I am saying this as a Bomber fan that I just wish both fanbases had equally accessible travelling rivalry games.
Sure Banjo Bowl might be the best game to compete against the NFL, but why not just avoid to create the best home-and-home series possibly in the league?
Yeah, screw Hamilton. Make them play on three days rest while Montreal has a whole week to prepare. Doesn’t work.
I’m not the schedulemaker who has a lot more time to make up a schedule. I just think with proper thought put in, that weekend of football could be vastly improved annually.
Of all the fans in the league I would think Rider fans are the least likely to give a damn that they would have to be back from Winnipeg to work the next day. I don't see Sunday afternoon as a problem for this game.

People still have to work , it just works better. Anyways, it’s a must for a CFL fan to make one or both of those games. Nothing close to the atmosphere in both stadiums and the antics around both cities on the wknd of the game. It’s like mini GC week .
Yea, Labour Day works fine just the way it is.
Labor Day weekend and the week after are the Home and Home rivalry weekend.
Now if you wanted to have a better rival day for Winnipeg fans to travel to Regina the follow up game could be played on a Saturday than a Sunday. Or if you move the follow up game to regina on a long weekend u could move to the Thanksgiving weekend to give Bomber travelers the extra day to travel.
Having the Banjo Bowl on a Sunday gives the day before and the day after for work days being off. Cant chnge the schedule around the NFL.
There is no complaint about the LD game , Monday is a holiday, works fine  It's the return game should be a Sat.

I think that would be fair. A sat game after a Sunday game still gives 6 days between games which for the CFL scheduling is as good as it gets for time off and preparation. Edmonton and Calgary finally had their game moved from Fri night to Sat for an extra day off from the Monday Labor day game as well as enabling Stamps fans to make the drive to EDM.
The Sat for the bombers at Riders would do the same.
Gives a nice Sat double header on TSN as well. Having later afternoon or evening starts would also place the games around prime time eastern starts on TSN with the latest start time for the eastern ime zone being 9:00 instead of 10:00.
Also for the Prairies having later start times giving travelers more time to get to the game. options for travelers their best options for staying over night on a friday and/or saturday depending on distances and personal time scheules and preferences.
With BC without a regional rival to play every year the eastern conferance has changed the home and home to just the Labor Day weekend Ottawa at Montreal and Toronto at Ottawa with the Toronto and Ottawa home rival match up being on other dates now.
With the TiCats being homeless as of recently with limited seats when they are at alterantive home sites. The schedule has the Cats playing at Toronto down the stretch. With the short distance, possible playoff impications and limited number of seats to Ti Cats home games. The Black and Gold fans have gotten past RC issues last season in the playoffs prioitizesing raiding RC with easily availble tickets with a very short distance.
With the same again now with THF not ready and many fans unable to see the Cats live RC is the available option with the one great thing about RC late in the season having a roof for fan comfort.
for Ottawa’s rival montreal coming to TD place there will be a potential for a new promotion weekend possibily being dubbed the east rival weekend or other

But why force the Riders’ fans to take a vacation day that might be in short supply if they want to come watch? Or force them to watch alcohol drinking because they have a drive home after the game? I feel these fans should enjoy their travel game as easily as we Bomber fans have. Sunday game in Regina and Sat game in Winnipeg is a fair 6 days for rest. Riders fans could more easily enjoy Winnipeg, and you avoid the NFL and setup an awesome doubleheader rivalry Saturday?
What true benefits are you getting on Sunday vs Saturday really?
It just sucks having to go into work hungover, and my voice gone!
Leave it to the fans. Rest between games is irrelevent since it is the same for both teams. Winnipeg has done a great job creating an event out of the Banjo Bowl so if they can make the overall event bigger and better by moving the game to Saturday to accomodate traveling fans why not? This is one of the highlights of the schedule every year, more so than their LD meeting, so anything to improve the experience is good for the league.

Yes, AGREED. Be nice to have couch time on Sunday!!!
That's the thing, neither fanbase truly loves one of their biggest games/parties of the year being followed by Monday. Let us enjoy a great Saturday game and have fun on a true weekend night.
There is no complaint about the LD game , Monday is a holiday, works fine  It’s the return game should be a Sat.
None of the teams that play on the Monday LD play on the return Friday anymore. The battle of Alberta EDM at Calgary is now played on Sat at EDM. So that was cleared up by the league from the request of the Alberta teams.
The point was that the Sunday game on LD weekend in Winnipeg vs Riders. The Return game is played the following Sunday. Winnipeg fans pointed out that if the follow up game were played on the following Saturday it would give fans from Winnipeg that make the trip to Regina would have a travel day on Sunday to return home before the work week starts up on Monday.
The only game that is played on the follow up Fri this year is between BC, which has a bye week on LD weekend, at Ottawa, which plays it LD weekend rival at Montreal on FRI of the holiday weekend. Montreal then has a bye the week after LD.
Ya'll are making the assumption we want Rider fans here.
