Why CFL Football Has Become My Favourite Sport

Because, in addition to being a good game, its core lesson is excellent: every single play, one person (the QB) starts with the ball…every single play…yet, in it as in life, not one person can do things all the time on their own. Maybe he passes, maybe he hands-off, or, maybe, in fact, he keeps the ball. Or, perhaps, those around him aren’t able to keep him from failing in the face of stronger opponents. However, as in the game of life, barring injury, one man and his team can rise again, work together, and attempt to achieve a single goal.

Yes, work together, a life lesson for governments to adhere to.

I think governments need to learn the lesson before they can adhere to it!

I view football as the ultimate team sport. Every man has his responsibilities, & those responsibilities change on the fly. Millisecond decisions are needed by everyone on the field as the play evolves. It makes other sports look so simplistic. Love me my football. I value the differences between our game & the American version. Don’t mess with them, long live the rouge!

i like the :cfl: and grew up with it. but the :nfl: game is definitely my favourite flavour of gridiron oblong ball sports nowadays. but i love watching amateur football too.

I share your views on football, though I enjoy watching the NFL more these days.

I don’t watch NFL at all. The main reasons perhaps are the facts 1/ I’m a proud Canadian 2/ 4 football games a week is probably as much football as I want to watch. I just can’t sit & watch football all day, too many other things to do.

Fair enough. If we all liked the exact same things, the world would be pretty dull.

i used to love CFL die hard until about 5 or so years ago when overall play quality and product started to drop off noticeably from year to year. the CFL is a shell of its former self now.

only in your opinion Bob. my name isn’t Debbie.

I sadly gotta agree, players and games are way less interesting now. No great personalities kinda slow games… I’m a ticats fan so its become a slog to watch the team barely get double digits if there lucky by halftime every week

Whether I agree or disagree, we mostly see the games on TV. I would suggest the quality of the TV production by TSN has been stagnant or even has regressed. No innovations (ie. pylon cam, or consistent use of the skycam). Heck, the Edmonton River Hawks use a drone cam at their games, and they are a developmental baseball team for college players. Perhaps if the production quality improved, and players were highlighted more, the product would appear better!

Yes, what happened to our balls are bigger, Friday night football. Used to be quite exciting a few short years ago. I couldn’t wait to grab a pop and popcorn and watch,

In 2018, the CFL decided to go with the NFL ball size. They are no longer bigger.

Well that was a stupid idea, why would we want to be more like the nfl. The cfl is different, that’s why it’s better, it’s Canadian. Generally all Canadian sports are superior to American sports, that’s why they keep stealing our ideas and trying to make them American ones. We have to give them their culture I guess. As once was stated by certain entertainers.

tonight’s game was utterly horrible. you guys sure do like a lot of punting.

My wife and I took in a game in Green Bay a few years ago at -19 Fahrenheit , coldest game we were ever at , had a great time with people around us , snow and wind
They knew a great deal about the CFL , liked the league

The CFL has one major advantage over the NFL. It can afford to experiment a bit with the game, marketing etc. and make mistakes because it is not the money-making machine that the NFL is for sponsors and, to a lesser extent, owners. One wrong NFL move…BOOM…up in smoke goes ad revenue. One wrong move with the CFL…small or even a little bigger…no biggie…that’s the CFL…next four weeks of East madness…here we go.
