Who wants the Leafs to win?

Zenstate: Thanks for the coaching. I'll try to pay closer attention and learn what this forum is about.

Mikem: I wasn't asking who the Leafs should play in goal, or what do people think of their penalty-killing. I asked how many Ticat fans like the Leafs. I'm actually curious to know whether our collective disdain for Toronto (partly driven by hatred of the Argos) outweighs the impact of being an hour away from the city. So far it does: 10 votes to 6. Sorry if that's too tenuous a connection to the Ticats, even in the off-season.

Anyway, no hard feelings - I've been known to call other posters to account on a few occasions myself.

I support the Leafs because I enjoy hockey and they are the closest Canadian team. I don't understand the people who don't like the leafs simply because they're Toronto's team. The fact is we will NOT get an NHL team here for a very long time if at all, and even if we do that won't stop me from being a Maple Leafs fan. Mind you I don't love them as much as the Cats but they are my hockey team.

Couldn't vote. There isn't an option for me.

Love the Blue Jays and the Raptors.

Hate the Leafs and A***s.

Captain, I have to figure out how to make you into a Tigers fan.

Comerica Park may be located in the heart of the majors' most depressed market, but you wouldn't know it on game days.
where you wouldn't maybe expect this:

Funny that 40-50 years ago there were very few Leafs fans in Hamilton, mostly Canadiens or Red Wings fans.
Now it seems like there are more Leafs fans than not.
Long time Bruins fan, love the team colors. Nothing better than Black + Gold on a team sweater.
GO BRUINS!

no disagreement here.

IMO, the Bruins, Flyers and Habs have the most powerful and distinct logos in the league, and while the Leafs logo is certainly eponymous, it is unimaginative and boring.

Baldy, I think it's more to do with the fact that Hamilton is much more of a Toronto bedroom community now than back then with better highway access, GO Train and the Red Hill. Simply more Torontonites here than ever before, those more or less born and raised there, and more to follow I'm sure. True Hamilton distinctiveness will shortly be a thing of the past if it already isn't among most who live here.

Really? Please explain how...The Flyers maybe, but a 'B' and a 'C H' powerfull? Was born and raised a TiCat and Leaf fan (to answer the op question) of course i want the Leafs to do well!

well, powerful in the sense that these logos are striking and instantly recognizable, oozing symbolism, without being convoluted or too busy.
(or a lame animal, turbulent weather etc)

8) As far as team logos are concerned, nothing at all can compare with the Chicago Blackhawk logo !!
It is in a class of its own !!

Team jerseys, Blackhawks again, especially the home red jersey. Even the white road jersey is magnificent !!

All other teams definitely have to take a back seat when compared to the Blackhawks, regarding logos and jerseys <!-- s:rockin: -->:rockin:<!-- s:rockin: -->

Here is another twist, are there any on this Ticat board who are like this Argo top fan who are not watching the NHL crap, regular season or playoffs?

I used to be a Leaf fan. I was one of thousands of little kids brain-washed into being a Leaf fan because its all that was on TV for hockey growing up....because of the monopoly they have on this region.

The Jim Balsille efforts to rightfully make Hamilton an NHL town is what opened my eyes. The Leafs and Sabres are the ONLY 2 reasons we do not have an NHL team. I will NEVER give one more penny or ounce of support to the stupid Leafs.

If you were born and raised in Hamilton, and you cheer for the Leafs, you really need to re-think that.

Just remember, that team is the reason we do not have a team of our own. Every time you pull on that ugly blue and white jersey, your supporting MLSE's monopoly on this region.

This ain't no Leaf town. This is Hamilton.

Merci. LOL

8) Good for you, "SteelCitySteve", how right you are, I agree 100 %.
Growing up as a little kid, I too I was brain washed into being a Leaf fan.

Then I met The Golden Jet, Bobby Hull one day in Burlington when I was a young teenager, and I have been a Blackhawk
fan ever since !! That was 50 years ago, and I still love my Hawks. I go to Chicago 2 or 3 times a year to watch them.

     Go Hawks Go.....Forever !!!    <!-- s:rockin: -->:rockin:<!-- s:rockin: -->       Leafs suck, just like the Argos do !!
8) Where have you been Russ, In hibernation for the winter ??

Thanks Tipper, I wish there were more people like us in Hamilton. Its annoying walking around Hamilton and seeing Leaf car flags and jerseys.....if these people stopped for two seconds and thought about who they are cheering for!

How many times I heard people say how awesome it would be if Balsille got a team here, and these same people then cheer for the team that prevented Balsille from doing it!

Its too bad we cant get all of Hamilton to stop watching NHL hockey. With a city our size, you would think the NHL would have to give us a team if it meant getting 500, 000+ people to watch the NHL. Unfortunately, people go about cheering the Leafs and watching the NHL, so there is no incentive for the NHL to come here because there is no 'new' money to be made.

But of course, they dont mind fighting tooth and nail for hockey mad Phoenix.

I do like watching some playoff hockey but the National Tanenbaum League here in s Ont sometimes does get a bit too much for me to swallow.

Like in football Toronto fans have zero class, this is sick

Fits in with the drunken Blue Jay fans.

I’ll run with that, Tip…LOL

Back and really to roll here!
