Now that the underclassmen in the NCAA have declared we are starting to get a better idea where this years Canadian players are likely to be drafted or signed as free agents in the NFL.
From 1,000 players rated here are the top Canadians.
Top rated Canadian is Christian Covington Rice U, 149th player on the list, 15th at DT and going in the 4th or 5th Round.
Tyler Varga Yale, rated 170th, 2nd at FB and going in the 5th Round.
Brandon Bridge South Alabama, rated 267th, 12th at QB and going in the 7th Round or Free Agent.
Brett Boyko UNLA, rated 272nd, 21 at OT and going in the 7th Round or Free Agent.
Daryl Waud Western Ontario, rated 433rd, 31 at DT and not listed as being drafted or signed as a Free Agent.
Lemar Durant Simon Fraser, rated 724th, 98 at WR and not listed as being drafted or signed as a Free Agent.
So CFL teams will shy away from taking Covington and Varga in the first round I would think. Also Bridge as he is a Canadian QB. Boyko has dropped apparently with the Juniors declaring but will should still get a Free Agent contract, but some CFL team may still pick him in the 1st after they see what team he signs with in the NFL. Waud and Durant may go to NFL camps as well but should still go in the 1st round for the CFL draft with teams that can afford to wait on them.
Justin Dunk in his Mock Draft has the Argos taking Richmond OT Jacob Ruby and that is starting to look like a good bet. But we all remember when Cory Greenwood came out got a Free Agent try out and was down there four years.
