Who are free agents at the end of season

If every season seat holder donates $10 extra to the cause we could land Lewis for sure!

I guarantee you that Hamilton is targeting Gino Lewis in free agency. He tore our very good secondary to shreds last year. No one can cover him.

For that reason, I also think that every other team in the league will also be targeting Lewis in free agency, and it will turn into a bidding war situation, which I can see Toronto winning, when all is said and done.

If every team wants Lewis we can resign Tim White under the radar and pivot to Lawler or Ellingson in FA

Would be off brand (but refreshing) for us.

If the Cats want to spend Lewis money for other good receivers then your pick(s) makes sense . :+1: But wouldn't it be nice to sign the best available .

Not only would Lewis dramatically improve the Cats but also weaken a division rival. It would be really nice to play Montreal and NOT have to worry about that guy burning us over and over.

IMHO
Lewis will be
BY FAR
The most expensive Non QB free agent on the market
(And I have no problem with that)
Exceed the Cap by $99,999

Okay , speaking about receivers and FA and upgrading , here is my top # 10 wish list of pending FA's that could be available come Feb 14th . Honestly think that any of the players listed would look real nice in black 'n' gold next season . Even if we could manage to sign one or two of these guys I'm thinking would be great .

In no particular order ...my top # 10 wish list FA Receivers

Geno Lewis - Montreal
Kaion Julien-Grant - Montreal (Canadian)
Jake Weineke - Montreal
Kurley Gittens jr - Toronto (Canadian)
DaVaris Daniels - Toronto
Darvin Adams - Ottawa
Kenny Lawler - Edmonton
Derel Walker - Edmonton
Rasheed Bailey - Winnipeg
Greg Ellingson - Winnipeg

Some interesting choices there Bobo . Weineke is not a burner but he is a solid possession receiver .

He's very much cut from the same mold as the dearly departed and never adequately replaced Luke Tasker . He also had a down year in Montreal last season so he might not cost us as much as some of the other receivers on my list .

Weineke made $160K last season

I wonder if BLM has DaVaris Daniels on his speed dial?

So we throw him a 5 to 10 thousand dollar raise with incentives and bingo , bango bongo you hopefully got a deal . :moneybag: :money_mouth_face:

Wieneke didn't seem to increase his market value last season. He went from #5 in receiving yards with 11 TDs in 2021, to #25 and two TDs in 2022.

He didn't seem to get a lot of targets in the games I saw . Maybe there were health issues that he was playing through .

Marshall Ferguson's wish list: Ferguson: Imagining potential free agency fits - CFL.ca

He'd like to see HAM going after Cdn OL Jamal Campbell (SSK), Cdn receiver Kurleigh Gittens (TOR), an Am receiver Kamar Jorden (CAL).

He also thinks other teams could be after our guys: J.Rolle (MTL), M.Carney (EDM), K.Kelly (EDM), M.Johnson (WPG). And D.Evans (OTT), who is "arguably an upgrade" over Caleb Evans (you think?) or N.Arbuckle.

Dane isn't a free agency fit
because
He isn't a free agent

As Ferguson well knows. I suppose Burke could sign him, but the CFL would surely refuse to approve the contract.

I'm wondering if this year will be Part 2 of Burke's large-scale raid of the HAM roster.

Well if he wants our castoffs he can have them.

We're looking to improve.
