What's With the 'Pegs Uni's???

As non 60's as ours were...what up with the Bombers????

Do any of our historians remember that combo (helmet, shirt and pants)???

I'm curious.

its reebok, they just got lazy and rushed a bunch of UNIs, remember those ugly bombers & argos uniforms last season, its like they just made a bunch of stuff last minute,

They just looked like there third alternate.
I liked ours just think we could have explored more then a TC on the helmet back then.
On second thought we won, so wear these all year

I don't recall the Blue Bombers' 60s unis.

I'm confused.

Are you saying they are not 60s retro unis, and then you ask what the 60s unis are supposed to look like?

What makes you say they are not 60s ?

What I'm saying (or asking I guess) is that I don't recall the Bombers wearing the Pittsburgh Steelers uniforms in the 60's.

Or ever.

Am I wrong???

Oh, ok.

Yeah, I'd guess they're too yellow and need to be a more muted gold.

From info gleaned fromhttp://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/, I can only surmise that the logoless helmet is pre-1962, because the Bombers were using a "W" logo on their helmets by 1962. Even old pics in "A Gentleman and A Tiger" from the sixties confirm that.

So the verdict is: clearly not 1965, by the book. LOL

Oski Wee Wee,

I think the league initiative is for the 1960s in general, while the Ti-Cats look was supposed to be specific to 1965.

Understood.

Oski Wee Wee,

So the answer is NO.

They never had black helmets in the 60's either???

I grew up in the '60's, I'm sad to say, and the only "retro" looks that "got it" were Montreal, and BC, and maybe Calgary. Every other one was lame or brought up a "WTF" from me! The Argos were close but the blue on the helmet was not the same shade as that on the uniforms and, come on!, when did the Cats EVER wear black helmets in the '60's!! ALWAYS yellow lids with white/black/white stripes on the top! I think whoever came up with the retro idea should have done their homework better.

If you're like me, and I think a lot of males, dark blue colours often look like black. The Bomber's helmets were dark blue last night.

When I got to the game last night and looked onto the field, I thought it was odd that the TiCats were practicing on the West end of the field, only to realize that it was the Bombers.

The dark blue, yellow, and white could have easily been mistaken for black, gold, and white, and did not really stand out.

The TiCats uni's weren't really that special. I like the white and black stripes on the arms, as this is pretty unique. I was just glad to see them not wearing black on black. That just looks dirty to me.

That's the first thing I thought. They did look just like Steelers' uniforms.

The photo below is the Bombers uniform in 1961. It looks like they got the pant colours right. In '61they wore blue helmets with a white lightning bolt along with white numbers. In 1962, their white shirts had the yellow and blue stripes on the arms, which they wore last night. The '62 helmets were blue with a white W. The helmets they wore last night (dark navy blue with two yellow stripes) were definitely not from the '60's. They were worn by the Bombers in the late '50's. So in summary it was, 1962 jerseys, 1961 pants and 1957 helmets!!!

They reminded me of the Steelers' uniforms. :?

that is the same thing i thought when i saw them come on the field lol.... i laughed

On television, when a Winnipeg player was standing next to a Hamilton player you could tell that the Bomber helmets were navy blue and not black. That being said I think it would be a better look if Winnipeg had a white W on their helmets.
