What's the fall out?

Stamps Fans ... With Nik out for an extended period, what do you think will be the "fall out" for our team? How will this affect (pick your area that is potentially affected)?

:cowboy:

For myself, other than the direct affect on our play on Saturday, I beleive that ultimately it will be more positive than negative. Here are some areas that I think it will affect and how;

  1. Short Yardage Plays (second and short) - Since this is usually "Nik time", I think someone else is going to step up. it might be Cote, but someone is going to go out and get those "hard yards" for the team. Ultimately, I think this might give us even more of a 1 - 2 punch for second down, where we become less reliant on Nik. The reduced "punishment" may further enhance Nik's career with more longevity.

  2. On Field Toughness (General) - Nik has always been the grinder of the group, straight hard nosed football from him. With his absence, I think he is going to mature even further and help others develop that style of game even more so than when he is on the field with them. Over the past few seasons, we have watched Nik mature into a leader on the field and in the locker room. With this injury, I would expect Nik to take on even more of a coach/mentor role with the younger players and help them develop the skills they need to "take the next step".

  3. Playoffs - I think this may be even more beneficial for us come playoff time. Nik may be just returning from injury at the end of the season and will be well rested and should come back with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Good for us ... not so good for the competition. A healthy, ticked off Nik is a formidable weapon for our offense.

  4. Regular Season - I think this puts us a little more vulnerable to loses in the regular season, but not as much as some might like to believe. Nik is important to our offense, but he is not the only one on our offense. We are going to lose a few more games. Nik being on the field demands more attention that some of our other players and frees them up for other things, BUT with him out of the line up, I beleive we will see someone else emerge and pick up their game.

Other than someone got hurt, I don't see this as a negative thing for our team. It will be a large hurdle for us, but ultimately, as a team, I beleive that we will thrive as a result of this "hardship".

With Lewis out for an extended period of time along with some other injuries in the REC corp this will see how good Glenn really is. He is the modern term Game manager but Game managers are not play making QBs and depend on getting the Ball to playmakers to make plays.
His game will be weakend even more if Cornish misses this weeks game against the Argos.
If Glen needs to start with with a less then spectacular set of playmakers we may see the #2 job leaning to Bo Levi if Tate indeed will be injured the rest of the season.
Nothing against Kevin Glenn but how long can you keep him and his explosiveness under wraps.
Similar decision was made with Tate replacing Burris.
The fear of playing a younger QB newer to the league has led to seeing situations in what happened in Edmonton last year and Winnipeg the last two years.
I guess there was a period not so long back where their were a ton of busts at QBs coming in.
I think the difference between that group is that they really did not want to be in the CFL where as this group is going back to a time where QBs came ready to play, wanting to be in the CFL.

Still winning!!

Winning with Mitchell right now not Glenn

Still Winning! Still #1 in the league! Pretty sure we have had the most players (specifically starters) of any team in the league!

The Huffer has this team DEEP with Talent!

:rockin: GO STAMPS GO!!!!! :rockin: :cowboy:

As an aside ... I got the opportunity to talk to Nik the other day and he feels he may make it back for playoffs ... no promises, but still there is hope!
