While I agree that it would be great to get the new Stadium named after a CFL hero; getting your name up there is probably going to cost a chunk of cash towards it being built.
For the short term, it will probably be known as "PanAm Stadium" as already been pointed out.
David Braley and Bob Young have both thrown enough cash at the City and our team to merit serious consideration, though...
Good points. It may be known as “Pan-Am Stadium” just as the one in Edmonton continues to be known as “Commonwealth Stadium.” Or perhaps it will be known as “Arcelor Mittal Stadium.”
It would be great if it could be named after a great Ticat player or coach. Perhaps what could be done would be to have it both ways as they do in Saskatchewan, where the have “Taylor Field at Mosaic Stadium.” Could we have “Ralph Sazio Field at Arcelor Mitall Stadium”?
I have suggested previously, the Dofasco Dome, maybe Stelco Stadium or how about the LULU Rim, if we can get Bob and Jim involved. Then or course there could be the Fan Stadium after all of us who will pay for it. A couple of other ideas are the Braley Bowl or Foxcroft Field, the ideas are endless. Of course the obvious is Ivor Wynne two like Comisky two in Chicago.
In all seriousness some comapnay will be paying for naming rights without a doubt, I personally hope its Bob Young's company. The truth is I think it's great that we are going to get a much needed stadium even though I will miss Ivor Wynne but will always have the memories.
The name "Hamilton Harbourfront Stadium" would identify the location of the venue and recognize the $60 Million contribution being made by the City of Hamilton taxpayers.
