so guys.. assuming that our Management is smart enough to do this.
what do you think they need to do to improve our team for next year for a 3-peat?
I for one think they need to get younger in a few areas.
Omar Morgan is over the hill and was a weak spot in our secondary.
Chris Szarka I think has had his day in all honesty and they need to either give Hughes a shot or find someone that can take the position.
I do believe that Koch should get the starters role next year.. yes we have these 4 Canadian receivers.. but are we gonna sacrifice a great talent like Koch just to keep all 4 Canadian receivers?
I think that we need to start looking at getting younger on our O-Line, look at finding guys to replace O'Day and or Makowsky.
They may not necessarily win over their spots but at least have them so that when the day comes, either in 2011 or 2012 that we aren't going to suffer.
I also really believes they need to give Charles a better chance at winning the starting role at RB. Cates is getting older and ya he may have another year left but if Charles can do the job just as good, and he's much younger and has a longer playing life ahead of him? why not?
Winnipeg got rid of Roberts when they found Reid right?
I also think they need to look at getting a better BACK UP QB. Dinwiddie I don't think could really run this team if (god forbid) Durant wend down for any serious length of time..
Our D-Line needs to improve! they need to get bigger but also faster.
Personally, I'd focus more on special teams right now. Konji might or might not be back for the start of the season so we have to start thinking about how we deal with an excellent punter who isn't as strong in kicking field goals (can Eddie Johnston improve in the offseason?). We also need to realize that we're just not as strong with this part of the team as we are with others and that the buck has to stop at Daley's door for either not recognizing the issues and/or providing the coaching that these team members need.
I don't mind having four Canadian receivers at all given who the four are! We also have to consider that some team members will inevitably be looking at moving to other leagues/teams or retiring so there will probably be some openings just on that alone!
IMHO Omar is still one of the premiere DB's in the league.

I believe Szarka can still do his job effectively. The problem is that he has been under utilized since Austin took over. When he hits the line, he punishes the d-line and is almost always able to pick up those 2-3 yards unlike Cates who bounces off the line backwards.

Those Canadian receivers are tried and true. I don't think any of them should lose out to Koch unless he offers noticeably more then them. Don't forget keeping those Canucks mean freeing up another position for another import.

Hard to say on this one. Dinwiddie has experience and has matured since his last major playing time. Truth is that nobody really knows what he is capable of now days.
One thing I can say with pretty much certainty is RGM won't be with the team this coming year. I still think that Dorsey got the raw end of a very poorly coached special teams. Even Dressler couldn't do much back there as it seemed like at no time of this year that our special teams were taught how to block.
Quarterback- Darian Durant = FINE!! We need to find a more reliable back-up at times this season we should have yanked Durant when things got outta hand. Maybe we didn't do it because we didnt have faith in Dinwiddle (did that on purpose tehe)
Running Back- Oh the debates that went on prior and during the 2010 season! Ok I'm just gonna lay it out, we should keep Cates but start Charles if were anywere inside the 10 Yardline on the opposing teams endzone thats when Cates comes in hes a bigger back that can (for the most part) plow through the line while Charles has the agility to break 30 yard runs.)
Fullback- Szarka has one more year plain and simple.
O-Line- Time to get younger and get rid of Bell!!!
Wide recivers, Depending on what goes down with Andy and the length of Bagg's injury I think it would be safe to keep Koch and possibly give him a start :rockin:
D-Line- WE NEED MORE SACKS plain and simple and I don't know if NFL rejects is the answer, Chunky was relitivly invisible for the whole game. This is how the D-line should go. Williams, Shologan, Jones, Mullinder and this means either booting or keeping Chunky and HAwkins as back ups or use them in special teams somewhere.
Linebackers- have the best cores in the leauge nothing should be touched.
Db's/safeties/corners- Other than Patrick and Fraizer our Secondary needs a makeover! Ommar is to old and past his prime (do we need a DB coach at all?) Alexander has shown he can get burned many times in one game aka the Miracle at Mosaic think he got 3 TD passes over his head not good :thdn: And George and Mitchell haven't really proven worthy of starting quite yet keep them but groom em first and put them on special teams, they have speed, We need to go out and sign a big name YOUNG corner or DB whom teams fear and we can put up agianst teams #1 recivers (Simon/arsenux, Rambo, lewis) ect

Its too bad that Hawkins didnt live up to his hype from the beginning of the season. The only real hole I see on this team is finding a good defensive end to replace Baggs and Chick and the offensive line. I still wouldnt give up Cates if we are going to rely heavily on the pass next season as he is still the best blocking back in the league.
Omar looked slow this year, needs to be pushed in training camp to keep his position. Charles needs to play. Use two RBs just like Calgary. I would not give up on Hawkins yet, as he played hurt most of the year AND he played in sketchy Etchy's D. If he is healthy and has say Chick on the other side (released by Colts) then I see two good rush ends. Definitely Ned a good or proven backup like we had with Jyles. Dimwiddie just scares me! Kline needs to get younger and stronger.

That is really it. They may have the DL already. They made some moves late, but I still think they need that 1 allstar. on the OL they realize that they need improvement, and have brought in a lot of depth.
If Fantuz goes, we have Koch, but it is a loss of a Canadian. Koch looks amazing. We also have a Canadian in Sisco, who we have not seen, but I believe will be the star of the Rider receivers in a couple years.
And lets not forget that Omarr isn’t at his prime right about now, we need to dip into the draft and and sign a big named Free Agent Corner or DB to solidfy that spot, Patrick can only be in so many places at once as good as he is :rockin:
I think the Riders should go after Geoff Tisdale, but he might ask too much. With them shoring up their halfbacks in Frazier and McKenzie, along with Patrick in the Saftey spot, if they can get the corners serviceable I think Richie Hall is going to have a lot of fun deploying his defence. He has some weapons back there. Should be fun to watch. Kornegay maybe, I liked Graham. I hope they do not go for Anderson although I think he would benefit most by being under Hall's eye as well as the established culture here where some of his antics are just not accepted, he would have to figure it out pretty quick.
This is a very good off season so far, I just can't wait till Free Agency, Fantuz decision, Draft, schedule, lets keep it coming.
