What is the up to date news on this years Grey Cup

Exactly kasps…the weather can be an added dimension AND one has to remember both teams play in it…It’s always great to see how each team strategizes for the conditions…Yes it can get cold but many Grey Cups of the past have been played in it and have been one heckuva contest…Get out the woollies and a little anti-freeze and enjoy the ride.

Despite my agreement that the price is too much for me personally, the fact that the game will likely sell out proves that in business terms, the game is not overpriced.

Stop the press!!! You went to the Grey Cup 24 years ago and paid less then now!!! Highway robbery!!!

Having been to chamionship games for CFL, NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB and Olympic Hockey....I see zero issue with the prices. If it is too rich for your blood, hey, I get it...but these prices are not rediculous. And bungle...yes...they have increased in price...which is a factor in why teams actually turn a profit on the game now, unlike your "glory days" 24 years ago. Also, this will likely be a difficult concept for you to grasp, but linear inflation is not universal to everyting under the sun. The fact the prices for the championship are up is a GOOD thing. I want to see the game still be affordable and it is compared to other pro leagues. Step into reality peewee

Thinking back to my first Grey Cup game I may have to retract my earlier comment about the Grey Cup being too rich for my blood. My first Grey Cup game was 1975 and I paid $20.00 for my seat. That $20.00 amounted to about what I made for one days work, in 1975. The tickets for this years game amount to about one days work for me in 2015.

In those terms, the price of the Grey Cup game is about the same.

Notwithstanding, despite my frugal nature, I will be at the game this year, fortunately we have relatives in Winnipeg we will be staying with so it helps offset the cost. Hopefully it is a bit warmer than it was in Calgary in 1975. Maybe they could even throw in a streaker to commemorate the 40th anniversary.

From the seating map that TravelPatB provided, the Grey Cup seat inventory only looks about 65% sold through. A lot of seats to move in the next 18 weeks. I am sure interest will pick up post-Labour Day.

Sir Bungle,

Please,
Hard core fans who are willing to sit for 4 hours in the cold are not idiots.
Just very dedicated.

Anyway, I will tell you my Grey Cup story.

2014, I go to Vancouver. Total cost 3 day stay with flight hotel and ticket is apx $2000.

The cost of my GC ticket was $ 389.

While I am there they are selling tickets for $50.
I figure it would be the cheaps . No it was including people in my section.

Imagine how happy I was that people sitting around me got the same area seat for $50 when I shelled out $389.

The game still was not sold out. I was a victim of economics. Blow out sale.

Perhaps if they are concerned about having a sell out for the GC , they would not jack up price up and piss off us who are willing to pay the high price.

Just saying.

Then why have wages gone down for players in those 24 year when adjusted to inflation… This is a straight up rip off.

According to the Bank of Canada… 20 bucks in 1975 is about 89 bucks in today’s money… Good on you for tripling or quadrupling your salary, but you were making minimum wage back then because I know carpenters in Ft. Mac that we’re making 18 dollars an hour back in 75 and in reality were making double our current journeyman rate once inflation is takin into account.

I hope that BC and Montreal make the final and there is 15000 empty seats… We all know that half of the sold tickets were bought by scalpers anyways… Screw this whole corporate BS… Hope that Manitoba taxpayers take it right on the chin for this one… Maybe having two Grey Cups in A row fall flat on their face will get this league back to where it should be… Start paying your fuckin players while you are at it too. I love the league, but absolutely hate the whole money hoarding and cheapness that has destroyed the league lately… Too cheap to pay players so we will only make them work 16 hours a week and then throw our hands in the air when every game turns into an abortion of nylon flags… Just makes me sick… Now they are ripping off their most loyal fans . The ones that travel to every Grey Cup… I truely miss the days when this league was on the verge of death and the owners treated the fans with respect.

Sorry Mr.B,

I do not get it.

you say you love the league , but you hope that BC and Montreal have 15,000 empty seats.
Sorry , that is not love. That is spite.

If do love the league and that is why I want to see its current corporate business model fail.. I want to see the league stop pandering to corporations and go back to its fans.. I also want to see the league stop ripping off its players and pay them the amount of money they deserve. Right now we have a coaches league where American coaches make double the salary of the players and we get penalty fillled crap football because the players have basicly no practice time. On top of this we have out priced families and now play in front of barely 20 thousand actual fans each game... If you took an actual turnstile count, teams like Ottawa and Hamilton now actually put more actual fans into seats than BC and Calgary. If you believe the attendance numbers, then you are a moron...

Dear Bungle,

Please go away and take your negative attitude with you.

Sincerely,

Everyone else

Thank you.

In truth, none of the above is guaranteed: Could be sunny and warm(ish) that day when my Bombers take on the Als.

The 2013 Grey Cup had a kickoff temp of +1, and Regina has pretty similar climate to Winnipeg.
