What happens to Zeke when one of the best linebackers in the league returns.Just a thoughtHe'll be returned to Hamilton as his rental period will be over. What else could Obie be up to? :)
I think Barrin Simpson will be the odd man out, in which case we should snap him up.
I Agree Cause Barrin will have something to Prove.
Yeah it was unlikely Simpson was going to be coming back next season anyway with the way Lobendahn was playing. Simpson simply makes too much money right now for what he brings (his deal i believe ends after this year anyway)
Simpson will be 32 next year. If his contract does indeed run out after this season, I could see him making the smart move and retiring. Although he might just be cocky enough to think that another team would still pick him up. Lobendahn and Moreno
Wow. Quite the pessimistic crowd. Barrin isn't going anywhere. He'll be back in the linebacking unit for Winnipeg unless he choses to play the free agent market. Zeke and Simpson together? Winnipeg would be stupid to let that possibility slip through their fingers.
with two guys that both play the middle so well, it would be really tough to have both of them on the field at the same time. You COULD force one of them to play outside, but I suspect they wouldn't be as good out there. The other option is to go to a 3-4 D, but then Winnipeg's front 4 is pretty awesome, so would you really want to mess with that?
No, I'm pretty sure the Bombers will be off-loading some LB talent this off season. One way or another...
Lobendahn, Moreno, Simpson, Hall, Charlton. All starting linebackers, but only 3 spots to fill in Winnipeg. I suspect one maybe two will be gone by the end of this season. In which case we should pick up anyone of them.
ok first of all i want to say, very good observations guys, but i dont know what will happen for our mlbs. I am really hoping they keep malveux stays in that outside linebackers spot, he is small linebacker that can cover man to man against a wide-out, sticking with him upgrades the bombers pass defence (since they get to add a db), also i think that the bombers can stop the run with just gavin walls, jerome haywood, doug brown, zeke, and cam hall.
also they could release Ike Charlton and pick up some other outside line backer who is younger.
Personally I think Winnipeg would be crazy not to keep Lobendahn ahead of Simpson or Moreno.
He has played great this year when he replaced Simpson.
bigger, faster and BETTER than Moreno for sure.!.. and younger.
IMO Winnipeg is NOT better at MLB with Moreno.
I think switching to a 3-4 defence would be their best move. Teams should get their best players on the field and create a system that best suits the talent on the roster. If you have better linebackers, play a 3-4, if you have better d-linemen then play a 4-3.
catfan i'm pretty sure Moreno is a step faster than Lobendhan
There will be at least two very good MLB coming back looking to get Zeke the hell out of there.
