Week 4: Winnpeg Blue Bombers (2-1) at Montreal Alouettes (2-0)

It’s Agent Orange and two guys I’ve never seen before. Zach’s comfortable with Orange but Murphy? Who knows. Jeremy Murphy’s coming straight from the practice roster to bolster our Canadian depth. I haven’t seen him play yet so who knows where we’ll use him. He’d have little or no chemistry with Zach so maybe he’ll show up on Special Teams.

American Linebacker Brian Cole (also from the practice roster) has a real shot at making an impact on defense alongside Biggy but he’s a bit of a question mark too. Am I worried? No. Cody Fajardo’s the one being forced to play behind the worst O-line in the CFL. Our front seven are going to feast tonight.

TSN may have to mute their loud burping sounds.

Rumour has it that Murphy’s nickname is Jesus. Unfortunately I don’t know whether that is in reverence or out of frustration

Uh, what? They’ve had some struggles through two games, sure, but we’ve got good players all across the board, including a former all-star in Landon Rice, and we had a solid year pass-blocking and run-blocking in 2022.

As long as he parts Fajardo’s offensive line and rains fire and brimstone upon him I won’t get upset if Murphy can’t walk on water.

Fire and brimstone always does in a pinch.

Agent Orange has the potential to make Montreal’s defense wilt. He’s a large target that can cause the DB’s to feel like they’re suffering deforestation.
Ol’ King Cole will be merry in his role as he has in the past when rotated in.
The rookie receiver can lull the defenders to sleep on his routes and Jonesy a catch or two.
Fajardo will feel like he’s playing behind his last year’s o-line.
I can try muting the TV but all my beer drinking guests will most likely make that a moot option.

Well, my Als have 2/3 of their starting LBs and 3/5 of their starting secondary out due to injury, so I’m not particularly optimistic about our chances.

Your next two games are against BC and Toronto so it doesn’t get any easier, but on the off-chance your Als pull off victories in all of them including this one… they’ll be the top team in the league.

For sure. Long shot, but hey, it feels nice to even be part of this conversation, given how seemingly every media “expert” had us finishing last in the league before the season started.

Als have always given the BB a hard time in the last couple of years. Would not be surprised if the Als pull it off tonite.

Me neither. You’ll notice I haven’t ditched my bag of shame yet.

I’m putting my over/under based on turnovers & penalties.

If Bombers can limit themselves (under immense duress) to under 6 penalties and

under 3 turnovers I think they’ve got at least a 50% chance of winning, perhaps up to 60%

If the penalties/turnovers equation starts going south for the Big Blue I give them no better than a 20% chance of stealing a W.

I must compliment you on your choice when asked would that be paper or plastic

A few ounces into the good stuff from Isley. I will endeavor to behave myself …but no promises.

As we wait due to the weather delay, we might as well be spinning tunes of shame for you too then like the classic disco hit by Evelyn Champagne King.

Enjoy with your drinks everybody and be merry!

Update From (Inebriated) Captain Timbers, Pirate Sports Network,
as transcribed by First Mate Paolo X

“Arrgghh where be ye ahoy ye mateys?! Gales, wind, whirlpool, ahoy starboard lads! Jibe port Pirate Cat now ye damn feline galoot! Arrrgggghhh!”

It’s really rough out here folks as we are already taking on heavy water despite the delay in game start time, but here at Pirate Sports Network we shall prevail and come through for you even if we have to do another dirty deal with Captain Strongbeard and his crew this time.

Katie Beers trying to vastly oversell the start time (“at the earliest 8pm EST”) . . . . but can’t blame TSN - they’re struggling to keep wandering viewers from going to a John Wick or Equalizer movie on the old films channel. . . . . .so they have Kate telling pretty little lies.
She’s a very good liar, btw . . . . . very believable.
This game will do well to start at 9pm EST fwiw
Good documentary on The Band from APTN this afternoon - about 2 hours with lots of Robbie Robertson, Bob Dylan, Ronnie Hawkins, Richard Manuel, Levon Helm, John Hammond, etc.

Hmmm…it sounds like we might get a cackle soon too then?

Which song might be for her?

“Witchy Woman” or “The Witch Queen of New Orleans” or another witchy song?
