Week 2: Edmonton Elks (0-1) at BC Lions (1-0)

A bit of hype as we wait for kickoff:

This is pretty cool. The Lions have made their gameday programs digital and accessible online:

It wasn’t the Elk’s defence that lost the game in Edmonton. I look for them to be tough and we may see a change at QB if the Elks don’t move the ball.
I think Brown is a much more punishing runner than Cary is and look for the Elks to pound the middle of the Lions defence and run the ball a lot tonight.

Wait . . . do we get kickoff soon, or do we have to wait 45 minutes for LL Cool J to do his thing?

Isn’t he playing at half time?

They said 35,000 fans expected.

They said something like LL Cool J was starting with a 45-min performance. Hopefully that started a while ago now.

I don’t think so. I think I’ll turn the tv off for 45 minutes. Can’t abide this noise.

How cute. They’re pretending to play musical instruments.

I think the pregame set is done now.

I wouldn’t mind seeing him do “Goin Back to Cali” though. Maybe halftime.
:crossed_fingers:

Call me old, old fashioned, whatever, but I’d rather see a musician play a guitar solo on a real guitar than his knob on a whatever that thing is called

Well the white noise appears to be over now so the delay was more like 20 minutes albeit 20 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.

Kate just called Rod Smith Rod Black when ending the pre game panel and sending it over to him.

this is going to be a great game

I don’t think that should be a fumble.

But I did think the INT should’ve stood. The contact was made while moving for the ball, no?

LL is apparently looking after EE

I thought it was the right call with Locksley for sure. Forward progress was stopped .

Officials are always slow blowing whistles on those.

I thought both calls were righteous

I agree no fumble. The whistle should have blown. If Locksley was still trying to move forward that would be different but he wasn’t. He had given up.

Not so sure about the IT but although Peters did nothing egregious he did hit him before the ball arrived preventing him from making the catch so I’m ok with it. It was a poor throw by Cornelius as he missed his receiver who was open.

Rule book says,

SECTION 3 – INTERFERENCE
Article 1 – General Definition
Interference takes place when a player obstructs, blocks, screens or charges
towards an opponent, with or without direct contact, in such a manner that prevents
the opponent’s approach to the ball carrier, potential ball carrier or the ball.
Blocking is identified as the act of creating interference with contact.

If Peters had taken a step or two forward he would have had an int, but because he made contact before the ball arrived…
