WEEK 18 OVERALL LEAGUE AVERAGE @28,233 (28,375 in 05)

For the first time this year, the average has fallen from last year and we are down by 142 per game. Although this week the average has increased by 168 per game, the lower then anticipated turnout in Hamilton and Regina for the last game of the year resulted in this slight only increase. Especially last year in game 18, we had the large crowd in Montreal at the Big O at 51,269. Hopefully this week the last home date in the Big O will surpass last years crowd and which will go a long way in possibly getting the league average over 29,000. Likewise, the Argos need a very good turnout this Friday night and which will be the Kick for Million night.
Three teams have all finished their home schedule, with Regina falling behind last year by -161, Calgary at -497 and the current big looser is Hamilton at a loss of -1220.
Even though Edmonton has the top five crowds, with one game to go it is also behind by a whopping 3851. Now with the team out of the playoffs all bets are off what the last game will draw. Hopefully the Saskatchewan following will make up the difference.

LEAGUE AVE. 06/ 66 games 28,233
05/ 73 games 28,375 Difference: -142

TOP 5 CROWDS:
Edmonton(Cal) 47,965
Edmonton(Cal) 40,491
Edmonton(Sas) 39,599
Edmonton(Tor) 39,533
Edmonton(Win) 37,611

WORST 5 CROWDS:
Note, excluding Montreal due to continuous sellout and small stadium.

Sask (BC) 21,082
Sask (Ham) 22,820
Sask (Cal) 23,107
Winn (Edm) 23,521
Sask (Cal) 23,942

I gotta say I'm pretty surprised/disappointed that 2 of the 5 worst crowds are Calgary at Saskatchewan. These were games played in beautiful weather, against a huge rival, to whom a star free agent jumped from the Riders. Apart from the fact that the Stamps had Sask's number, what gives?

I know in Vancouver the Lions and Junior Hockey Giants benifited from no NHL. They both have retained alot of those fans but there is some drop off.
