Watson and Poblah

From the Winnipeg Free Press:

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will announce Wednesday that they have signed non-import receivers Cory Watson and Kito Poblah to contract extensions.

Watson, who turned 28 on Tuesday, had at least one catch in 17 of the Bombers 18 regular season games in 2012, finishing his second-year in the CFL with 792 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The Quebec native is highly regarded by the Bombers coaching staff and is expected to hold down one of the Canadian starting spots on the Bombers this season.

Another of those Canadian spots is expected to be held by Poblah, who had an injury-filled rookie season in 2012 after the Bombers selected him in the 2011 supplemental draft.

Poblah, 24, played in just three regular season games last season and recorded just 10 catches for 99 yards. Nine of those catches, however, came in just one game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Labour Day, offering a glimpse of what the Bombers braintrust believes will be a bright future for Poblah in the CFL.

A Montreal native who had a standout college career with Central Michigan, the Bombers gave up a first round-round pick in this year’s draft to take Poblah last season.

Great news.

Good news for Bomber fans but now you got to wonder why JJ has had to get to the back of the line for an extension…

....Great news indeed....These guys are going to be an integral part of the Bombers for years to come...Very valuable ni's...We drafted well....As far as Jovon goes, a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and trips a bit on his emotions, I wouldn't be too concerned...Mack says he'll get a deal done with Johnson, sooner or later and everyone will be happy...Having said that, i don't like the fact a few players are trying to leverage contracts through 'twitter' world...Jovon should let his agent do the talking and cut-out the theatrics
