Wally- Get on the PHONE with CALGARY and get a LEGIT SAFETY!

As a BC FAN all I can say is since BARON MILES retired we have had NO SUCCESS at all finding a capable safety? What was Wally thinking TAD CRAWFORD could be a starter? He is not a PRO player end of story- Jason ARAKGI cannot do it--

Now we are playing the tiny Davis Sanchez as safety due to injuries-

Wally its really not that hard to find a CAPABLE safety and if you need one CALGARY has the perfect guy for our team--
For those who are not aware since HUFFNAGEL has connections in the NCAA former Argo QB Congredge Holloway called him and told him about a safety named Demeterius MORLEY-- He played at TENNESSE and won the starting job in the preseason-

MORLEY had 2 highlight INT's vs the Lions in preseason- MORLEY won the game for CGY yesterday with a FEROCIOUS hit on TJ harris of WInnipeg who fumbled the ball-

Former Ole MISS defensive back MILT COLLINS has been benched for MORLEY--- CALGARY also has ERic Fraser a canadian safety--

Milt Collins played in the SEC at Missipi- He is fast, over 6 feet and can HIT you really hard--- He is what the Lions need--

You cannot have a pro secondary without a player over 6 feet tall, and players who are not physical and cannot tackle-

If we offer a draft pick or something we can get MILT COLLINS on our team--

We lack athleticism and strength in the secondary---

The BC lions have become like the Welfare system-- I wanna know why Db's are not being challenged by newcomers in training camp? MARSH, Phillips, Banks, Sanchez, numerous safeties, and we cannot find ONE NEW DB that can play in the last 5 years except for FRANKS whose career is over now likely--

Davis Sanchez is laughing his ass off- He will continue to get paid until he is 47 years old at this rate and so will Marsh and Phillips--

Does anyone think that even 1 member of the BC secondary would make CALGARY or MONTREAL?

You have to bring in new db's to challenge the old db's that are obviously not able to play anymore----

Look at what Jamal RIchardson did to our secondary and SJ GREEN beating Sanchez by 10 yards on a deep ball?

Franks was a GREAT RECRUIT, we need 3 more FRANKS-- FRANKS was fast could cover and made INT's--

MILT COLLINS the hard hitting safety is what we need at safety-- AT least we can put fear in opponents receivers that they might be HIT---

I mean Marsh, Phillips, Banks, Sanchez look like high school players, none of them have any muscle or size to continue to compete as professional athletes--

I think Wally needs to get a YOUNG safety like COLLINS instead of taking other teams garbage as he always does in taking Kamau, a washed up Robertson, a washed up Davis Sanchez and Derick Armstrong, and over paying for overrated players like Mackenzie and Keron Williams-

Wally get on the phone and get us MILT COLLINS !

While for the most part I agree with you in regards to needing a safety. However our pass coverage isnt just about the db's covering and tackling (I hate the 'lie down and hope he hits your shoulder with his shin' tackling). When we have an adequate pass rush we create 2-and-outs, Ints etc. Any QB can pick apart our defence if he has all day to look around for an open man. Bring the heat coach B, bring it!

IF you look at teams around the CFL, all the good teams are constantly changing their secondaries to bring in new fresh bodies.

Calgary off the top of my head in Huffnagel's brief 3 years has REBUILT the secondary already a few times. Calgary has had Jr Ruffin, Brandon Browner, Dwight Anderson, Ronnie Amadi, Devanzo Tate, John Eubanks, Fasset, Wes Lysack, all who are no longer with the team-
Calgary basically rebuilt their entire secondary this season and so far they have been very good and making interceptions.

Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, even Edmonton have completely rebuilt their secondaries-- Edmonton has let guys go like Jante BUHL, Elliot Richardson, Keyo Craver, Bradley Robinson, and numerous other dbs couldnt cut it--

What I cannot understand is doesent Wally understand that you need to constantly look for Dbs in a pass first league?

Franks was a great find, but I can assure you if you found 1 FRANKS, there are many more FRANKS available in USA--

I understand that without a pass rush no DB;s can cover their receiver for ever, but what I am seeing on the field amounts to a basic UNACCEPTABLE LEVEL OF PLAY FROM A PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE--

If Ryan Philips expects to tackle by Waving and slapping big receivers he SHOULD leave- I am sure he is a nice guy but he cannot tackle and is way too weak-

Tad Crawford, Arakgi, Sanchez, Marsh? Every one of these guys is undersized or too slow to play PRO FOOTBALL--

I am sick of WALLY BUONO as a coach-- ALL he cares about is his pay cheque-- He is going to continue to pay Davis Sanchez into his 40's and BRENT JOHNSON also will continue to get paid as he is milking the LIONS also--

Ever watch Brent JOHNSON RUSH-- HE GETS NO push at all upfield and looks like a CAT scratching at something----

LASTLY WALLY the reason you bring in new players to play defense is because the average CAREER in PRO FOOTBALL is 4 years--
4 YEARS WALLY< YOUR Secondary that you brought in has all played for more than 4 seasons meaning its time to REBUILD the secondary--

THe reason in my opinion you bring in a new secondary is this--- The closer players are to having just finished playing football in colllege the more muscular they are-- They are in peak shape, they took the roids, they are fast, they are big, they are mean--
When they come to the CFL and live in a condo with 3 other team mates and eat basically pasta and basic food they stop training as hard in year 2 year 3 year 4--

Ever notice how guys basically disappear in the CFL from the 3rd season on who were dominant in their first season, it almost appears like they got SLOW over the course of 1 season---

IT happens which is why CGY and MTL are always changing and bringing in younger players and new players--

WALLY is so stubborn and lost that he cannot figure this out and does not care at all, all he is doing is milking David BRALEY dry--

If Wally is fired tomorrow is any other team even interested? NOT a chance-- Since Ackled passed WALLY has done absolutely nothing with this team--

BRALEY PLEASE hire a DIRECTOR OF SCOUTING, and please dont give that JOB TO WALLY- We need a scout for usa colleges, its pretty clear that our scouting sucks--

ERIC Tillman and Huffnagel and Trestman have the connections to american colleges, Wally has no connections at all so we need to hire an american with connections to BIG football programs to keep up with CGY and Montreal and Toronto--

I refuse to go to another LIONS home game if I see mickey mouse players like ARAKGI, Tad Crawford, Sanchez, Phillips, Marsh--

Most of what you say is true....except for the dogging of Korey Banks. The guy is year after year one of the best defensive players in the league. He's been asked to play more like a linebacker than a DB and is very good at it. Yes , Phillips , Marsh and Sanchez are soft players and it may be time for them to go. David Hyland is an excellent replacement for at least one of those guys and will start today.

toronto doesnt have an OC. maybe lions could trade JC for someone.

...trade us Ben Archibald for MIlt Collins...other than that, there's really nothing you have that we need...

Jaime Elizondo is the OC for the Argos (though Barker, I believe, calls the plays).

he may have the title, but he is not doing the job. He must have something on barker

Being a Ticat fan, I've read here in Hamilton that the Ticats have released Jerome Dennis. Perhaps Wally might be willing to take him back? He may also be willing to pick up Tad Kornegay, who was just released by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. I know that these guys have more experience at either the Halfback or Cornerback positions, but you never know... they might be just the Free Safety you've been looking for. 8)

What? Do you have evidence to suggest that Elizondo is not doing his job? Or is this just a jab at Toronto’s anemic offense, which IMO has a lot more to do with the lack of talent at receiver and QB than it does with the coaching?

Barker’s not an idiot. He wouldn’t keep a coach on staff if that coach wasn’t capable of doing his job.

it is a jab at Torontos offense. Depending or counting on Lemon to get the job done is bad coaching. No offense sucks that bad without there being a weakness at coaching. Failure to pull lemon is a bad coaching decision.

asfor Barker not being an idiot, I have questioned that a lot so far this yr.

Barker acquired Jyles in the offseason. Jyles was the best QB available on the trade market. Unfortunately, Jyles had to go on the LTIR, but it’s not like Barker didn’t try to get competition for Lemon. And I think you’ll see a shorter leash on Lemon if he continues to struggle.

No offense sucks that bad without there being a weakness at coaching.
I'd say it's more a failure of Barker as GM. The receiving corps is not CFL-quality. You have Copeland, who's a 4th receiver at this point in his career, then a bunch of no-names and journeymen, none of whom can be a legit no. 1 or 2 receiver facing the tough matchups.
Failure to pull lemon is a bad coaching decision.
Most offensive coordinators have nothing to do with deciding when to pull the QB. That's on the head coach.

In any case, I wouldn’t argue that Barker has made some weird decisions this year (that rush 3 / drop 9 strategy against Calvillo? Doomed to fail). I just thought, in your initial post, that you were saying that Toronto actually had no offensive coordinator, when in fact they do (regardless of what you or I might think of the job he’s doing).
