Wally fined, " League to Rule"

Thursday, November 8, 2007

TORONTO (CFL) – The Canadian Football League announced today that it has fined B.C. Lions General Manager and Head Coach Wally Buono $1000.00 for publicly disagreeing with a penalty for rough play called against Lions’ offensive lineman Jason Jimenez in Saturday night’s game against the Calgary Stampeders at B.C. Place Stadium.

The Commissioner, acting under the direction of the CFL Board of Governors, implemented a policy earlier this year that prohibits league members from making publicly critical comments about CFL officials or their on-field decisions. Mr. Buono’s remarks are in direct violation of this policy.

The actions of Mr. Jimenez are currently under review. A videoconference review hearing has been scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, November 9. A decision is expected within 24 hours following the conclusion of this review hearing.
