Wake named West's Outstanding Defensive Player

The Canadian Football League announced its 2008 Outstanding Player nominees and among them is the Lions’ Cam Wake who will represent the West Division during Grey Cup week in Montreal as the Outstanding Defensive Player.

Wake dominated in 2008 recording twice as many sacks as his nearest competitors (23) who just happened to be teammates Brent Johnson and Aaron Hunt on a powerful Lions defensive line. The 2007 CFL Outstanding Rookie and Defensive Player picked up where he left off going into his second season as a Leo and added the team nominations as Outstanding Player and Outstanding Defensive Player to his growing football resume in 2008. Yesterday, the CFL announced that Wake along with 12 teammates would also represent the West Division as All-Stars.

What do you think?

No surprise and well deserved.

Wish we had him indefinitely, but it doesn't appear that'll be the case.

He's a special talent alright...has been absolutely thrilling to watch and has quickly become a fan favorite.

He should have been the MOP nominee.

He does more for the Lions than Burris does for the Stamps...imho...

I agree....no other player has generated as much excitement as Wake. Most outstanding by a mile.
