Got talking with a CFL official and told me that Wade Phillips who is close friend with Marvy Levy - got intriqued in 2005 to coach the Montreal Alouettes if Don Matthews left.
Wade Phillips has visited Montreal the past 3 years for football clinics and Bob Wettenhall approached him when Marv Levy met with the staff, and brough Phillips to see if he would be interested.
He was, but Matthews didn't leave his job.
