..........vs Montreal

I don't harbour any anger towards Calgary, just contempt. If makes you feel better to tell yourself that I'm an angry, angry man, go ahead. You don't even know me.

Agian, I just refuse to get sucked into your little game. I won't put in the effort. You can. I know it's there.

…BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ…wrong answer again EATB…it isn’t there, I know, I checked…you must be thinking about someone else…geez, and you had such a good chance to redeem yourself…sorry, you’re such a putz and can’t admit when you’ve been a bad boy…and contempt, wow, that’s like anger on Viagra…I’m truly sorry to hear you have contempt in your heart, for what?..a city no less…an inanimate object in itself…I’m really pissed at Terrorists right now…doncha think that would be a better thing to be angry at?..

bs'ing to eachother won't help man...
we gave up thats that. no blame on anyone, congrats to flemming for passing dave cutler.
better luck next game vs winnipeg

He EEsks,
Your right it was a great game. But don't blame it entirely on your special teams play. Yes, it was because of Landry we won, Im not denying that. Im saying don't blame them because its hard to stop a guy who is 5'2". He is so levelled to the ground. You know in football, the key is to get lower, well Landry has that in his favour no matter what. And he is fast, and he can cut on a dime. Thats something O-Line, Linebackers and Jason Maas can't do.

But your Defence had an excellent game, and your offence only seemed to of played only 30 minutes. Which was an advantage to us, because our Defence looked like it was in for a long night if Ray continued like that.

Well talk to you guys later.
This will definately be on ESPN Canada Classic's CFL Classics one day.

Haha the good old battle of alberta lol. redandwhite, you should just quit now since we all know the outcome of this kind of stuff! edmonton always ends up on top. jk

I was on TSN and people were trashing ricky ray and i really dont understand why. I think he had a great game and its just his recievers let him down.

ryoon - good point, i wish we would of kept the kid last year but oh well. We'll see each other on august 24th or 26th i believe here in edmonton.

It was a good game. Good for the ratings I guess. The Eskimos should have won this. Nothing bad towards the Als, they are a great team. The Eskimos dropped passes which usually aren't dropped (Ed Hervery), Missed makeable field goals (37 yards? Comon Sean)

Like the Edmonton Sun said. The three goats were

  1. Sean Fleming
  2. Tom Higgins
  3. Ed Hervey

Tom Higgins because he was the retard that let Landry go to the practise roster. :?

........and terry jones is the biggest homer in the world when it comes to his sports writing........makes number one spot in my list of most biased writers of all time.........to blame higgins for your loss in montreal is a joke, talk about misguided blame.........

........blame Popp if you want to use this as an excuse, he broke the gentleman's agreement in the CFL that says before your steal someone from the PR you talk to the GM of that team first............Popp didn't..........

Maybe, but did Higgins talk to Dunnigan when he claimed Joe McGrath or talk to Campbell when he claimed Danny Wimprine?

As far as Terry Jones goes, he does have a bias here for sure but I'm willing to bet he's not the only sportswriter in the country like that. He has been here since I can remember. How can you live in a community for that long and not become a little biased in your opinion. Don't forget that Jones writes a colum offering his personal opinion, not reporting the straight facts and nothing but the facts.

Cheers

......a little different case in each of your comebacks super.......in the McGrath case his father approached Higgins first, indicated his son was not happy with being on the PR and asked Tom to pursue signing his son, therefore TH didn't instigate anything.........in the Wimprine case he turned down the offer to join the EE PR leaving himself unprotected and in effect a free agent.......in both cases the Stampeder and EE mgmt was very aware these players were unhappy and did nothing to protect them.......in the Landry case he didn't indicate to the EE mgmt he was unhappy and then poof ends up in Montreal......

.........as for jones, yeah, I see your point...........a sports editorial.........I guess the only problem I have with that is when TJs articles are sent outside of Edmonton he is presented as a 'reporter' of sports news, not an editorial comment, so it inflames people when they read his 'opinion' when it is presented as a sports news story........

.......

w/e , thank god , Tom( ned flanders) higgins is not with edmonton anymore and can run the stamps organization into the ground and not ours

…geez, if winning grey cups and being coach of the year is the same as running an organization into the ground I’m all for it…

but again thats was with a unbelivable team, i could have one tht grey vup coaching them but calgary is a bad team and he doesnt know how to rebuild

..........whatever RnR...........I see your employer is starving you of oxygen again, do you need me to notify WCB for you?...........

LOL red and white, starving you of oxygen?? that is damn funny.

You want humour? In another thread, this guy was accusing me of having homo-erotic feelings for him. As if. . .

…but on a serious note, does a good team make a coach shine, or does a good coach make a team shine?..in the case of a coach-of-the-year award I’d have to say the latter because the judges for such an award would know that it was the coach that made the difference, not the team…

If you have a great team, but a crap coach that no one respects, the players are not going to respond.

See I learned something new today. I had no idea that McGrath's father approached Higgins. As far as the other two cases, I have no ill feelings regarding the situation. That is the chance you take when you release a player, but ask him to hang around "just in case". In effect that's really what the practice roster is all about.

I wish Landry was was here and don't agree with Higgins decision, but c'mon to say that he cost us the game is stretching it. What happened to the coverage team. Landry is good, but there is no way he should be breaking two in a row against any team in this league.

Higgins is a good football man and should provide stability to the franchise. He frustrated a lot of fans, media and even players up here with some of his decisions but there is no denying that he is qualified to run that orginization. If he truly had run the Esks into the ground we would be rebuilding this year instead of off to a good start.

As far as the coaching question goes I think that a good coach makes a good team great and vice versa. Neither one gets that far without the other.

Cheers

Right on. It's completely absurd for Edmonton sports writers to be harping on the Landry issue a full year after it happened. Deal with it, guys. Landry is with Montreal. If you want to place blame, your special-teams coverage is a good place to start.

In any case, Edmonton poached free agents in the offseason by offering more money than other teams could afford (Sanchez, Wiltshire). And then there was the whole Ed Hervey-Ottawa fiasco. So let's drop the whole Landry practice-roster thing and move on.

i dont see what's so bad about the Hervey-Ottawa issue...as for Landry, you can't blame anyone...we had october, he was better....so we took the risk and put him on PR, and montreal scooped him....thats just business in the CFL
