Okay, my new ISP and I are friends, and the standings have been posted. They should be here.
Here are the rules, in a nutshell:
Each week I will start a thread, like this one, listing the games being played that week.
To join in, just start making picks. You can join in at any time, but the later you join the harder it will be to catch up.
To make your picks, reply to the thread, stating which teams you think will win. You can elaborate or pontificate all you want, but the predicted winners must be obvious at a glance.
In order to be accepted, your post must be made prior to the scheduled kickoff. No exceptions for any reason.
If you want to change your pick prior to game time, post another reply. DO NOT change your original post.
At the end of the week, the standings will be posted. Rankings are based on the number of correct picks, followed by the aggregate spread (point spread of games picked correctly minus point spread of games picked incorrectly), followed by the percentage of correct picks.
At the end of the season, the top 8 participants will qualify to make picks for the post-season.
These are the games for Week 8:
Hamilton @ Winnipeg
Montreal @ Saskatchewan
Calgary @ B.C.
Edmonton @ Toronto
Dave, I made my Week 6 and 7 picks in the Week 6 and 7 thread on August 1st. I show up as 0-0 for those weeks. Can you look into this, please...many thanks!
Hamilton @ Winnipeg: There is no reason why Hamilton should not be 4-4 after these two games against the Bombers. Cats by 11.
Montreal @ Saskatchewan: Saskatchewan is fuming after suffering their first loss. The Als still haven't shown that they are anywhere near the team they used to be. Riders by 15.
Calgary @ B.C.: Probably the game of the week. I'm going with the hot team. Stamps by 5.
Edmonton @ Toronto: I hate doing this, but Toronto is a far better team than the Eskimos. Argos by 9.
I should have gone with my hunch on the Riders-Stamps game. Would have been 4-0 over the two weeks. Oh well.
For week 8:
Hamilton @ Winnipeg - With any luck at all, we'll have a few more starters back. The Bombers management turnover could cause a bit of turmoil on the field, but could also give the players more incentive to play well. Won't be enough, though.
Montreal @ Saskatchewan - Montreal ain't Calgary by a long shot. Should be an easy win for the Riders.
Calgary @ B.C. - This'll probably be a close one. Going with the home team.
Edmonton @ Toronto - I'm with Big Dave on this one. I hate going with the Argos to win anything, but duh.
