Here are the rules, in a nutshell:
Each week I will start a thread, like this one, listing the games being played that week.
To join in, just start making picks. You can join in at any time, but the later you join the harder it will be to catch up.
To make your picks, reply to the thread, stating which teams you think will win. You can elaborate or pontificate all you want, but the predicted winners must be obvious at a glance.
In order to be accepted, your post must be made prior to the scheduled kickoff. No exceptions for any reason.
If you want to change your pick prior to game time, post another reply. DO NOT change your original post.
At the end of the week, the standings will be posted. Rankings are based on the number of correct picks, followed by the aggregate spread (point spread of games picked correctly minus point spread of games picked incorrectly), followed by the percentage of correct picks.
At the end of the season, the top 8 participants will qualify to make picks for the post-season.
And now, here are the games for Week 4:
Toronto @ Winnipeg
Montreal @ Calgary
Edmonton @ B.C.
Hamilton @ Saskatchewan
Woo hoo! I'm in 63rd place! Well, it's a long climb, but I'm up for it.
Toronto @ Winnipeg: It pains me to pick Toronto to win, but the Bombers just haven't proven anything this year. Even with a healthy Buck Pierce they can't score points. And sacks are great, but they won't help you if you allow 300+ yards passing. Argos by 9.
Montreal @ Calgary: If I were an Alouette fan, I'd be worried. Something's got to happen for this team. Not likely to happen this week. Glenn or Tate, Calgary is playing great. Stamps by 8.
Edmonton @ B.C.: Other than the win in Guelph, the Eskimos have looked terrible. B.C. should be able to do what they did last week, and then some. Lions by 7.
Hamilton @ Saskatchewan: This is a tough pick, because no matter how much I want Hamilton to win, there is no way I can justify picking the Tiger-cats. Hamilton's run defence is terrible, and they're playing against the best running back in the league. Add to that a QB who is having success, and a team that no one has beaten. At the most hostile environment in the country! Everything in my head is telling me this will be a blow-out, but because of my love for my team I'll call it a close one. Riders by 1.
After a 3-1 week I've moved up to 43rd! And now...Easy Pick Week! Yep, four easy picks this week! Which of course means that everyone else will make the same picks, oh well...
Toronto - Toronto may be 1-2 but they are still the class of the east. Easy win.
Calgary - Montreal has just been brutal this year. Easy win.
B.C. - The Rain Gods only victory came against Hamilton, and have yet to show any offense against anyone else. Easy win.
Saskatchewan - Hot team vs. a team that had it's only win against Winnipeg. Easy win.
Toronto @ Winnipeg - Playing a hunch.
Montreal @ Calgary - Not playing a hunch, the Als offense sucks.
Edmonton @ B.C. - No rain this time to make it even look close.
Hamilton @ Saskatchewan - Winning streak won't be ending this week
