Virtual Grey Cup Challenge, Week 20

At last: the final week of the regular season! Just three more games before the playoffs. (I will post the rules for the playoffs in the "Virtual Grey Cup Challenge, Divisional Semi-finals" thread. For those of you who were involved last year, we're doing it the same way.)

You MUST finish in the top 8 in order to qualify for the post-season, so those of you (or I should say "us") that are close will want to make your picks accordingly.

Here are the matchups for week 20:
Saskatchewan @ Edmonton
Montreal @ Toronto
Winnipeg @ B.C.

The standings are available to view at http://home.cogeco.ca/~droddick1/vgcc_standings.htm

To make your picks, reply to this thread (please don't quote this post) with your picks for the winners.

Participants will be ranked based primarily on the number of correct picks. Point spreads are not considered. If you elaborate on your picks, please make your pick clear at a glance. If I have to read paragraphs of prose to figure out who you think will win, I won't bother.

The deadline to make a pick for any game is the scheduled kickoff time of that game. No exceptions. A pick for a 7:00 game will be considered late if it is posted at 7:01.

If you want to change one of your picks, please post a new reply. DO NOT EDIT YOUR ORIGINAL POST. If a post has been edited, only those games played after the latest edit will count.

Good luck!

Okay, I've got to face the fact that I'm going nowhere in the post-season unless I take some major risks this week. So here goes:

Saskatchewan @ Edmonton: Most people will probably pick the Riders, but if the Esks can pull out an upset I'll be laughing.

Montreal @ Toronto: This one could actually go either way...but I can't have my post-season hopes relying on the Argos.

Winnipeg @ B.C.: Depending on the Montreal/Toronto game, Winnipeg may still be able to get a home playoff game. This game means nothing to the Lions, who barely squeaked out a win against the Ticats. A Bomber upset is a definite possibility, and just might back me into the post-season!

-Saskatchewan
-Montréal
-B.C.

Thanks BigDave

Edmonton
Toronto
Winnipeg

My picks are:
Saskatchewan
Toronto
BC

Saskatchewan @ Edmonton
Montreal @ Toronto
Winnipeg @ B.C.

BigDave, it doesnt matter what happends in the MTL/TOR game. If the Bombers win they get 2nd place and a home playoff game.

Well, no chance in hell of me making the Elite Eight, so let me just say thanks again, BigDave for another great season of fun and merriment in the VGCC. May you return again next season for another go 'round of prognostication.

Now, for my Week 20 picks:

Saskatchewan over Edmonton
Montréal over Toronto
Winnipeg over B.C.

Saskatchewan @ Edmonton
Montreal @ Toronto
Winnipeg @ B.C.

Winnipeg wins and the Blue get a home playoff game in the River City
Thanks, like always, BD!

Edmonton
Montreal
Winnipeg

Edmonton --can't believe I am doing this. first time in 2 years that I am picking not picking the riders. But I want them to lose this cause there is pretty much no way that they can win 6 games in a row.
Montreal
Winnipeg

Well, looks as tho I can't make the post-season, but I'd like to be able to finish the regular season about where I'm at, so.....

Saskatchewan
Toronto
Winnipeg

Thanks for a great season BigDave!

No chance of making the post season sigh, those early weeks were a killer!

SASKATCHEWAN Over Edmonton. Ding Dong the witch is dead. Riders are on a roll, Edmonton is looking at different players. Momentum in the playoffs are important. RIDERS by 5

TORONTO Over Montreal. The turtle race in the East continues. I'll try my darts on this game, lets see, the darts say Toronto. TORONTO by 1

BC Over Winnipeg. This will be an interesting game, especially if the Bombers have a chance to host a semi final. BC hasn't lost at home all year and as I said in the first pick, momentum is important for the playoffs. Lions defense should make Kevin Glen ordinary. Lions by 6

Saskatchewan @ Edmonton: Edmonton
Montreal @ Toronto: Toronto
Winnipeg @ B.C.: BC

This way, the teams I really want to win will win because I picked the other team! I am the jinxer!!!!! That's the kind of season it's been. Lotsa fun, as usual. Kudos to you Big Dave! Thanks for all your hard work.

Swahgade

Still bitter in Ottawa
Go Gades Go in 08!

Edmonton
Toronto
Winnipeg

...Thanks for your hard work this year Dave, good luck in the playoffs....

It's over already????? Man these seasons go by too fast for my liking.
Anyways, if it wasn't for a late season slump I would have been in good shape this week. Anyways my best finish yet, thanks again BigDave and I'll be back next year as usual.

Saskatchewan @ Edmonton = Go eskies (wow, first time I've said that in my life)
Montreal @ Toronto = Montreal
Winnipeg @ B.C. = Winnipeg (Second time I think I pick against my Lions, but if I go 3-0 and somehow luck into the playoffs then I don't care, if not then my Lions win and have good momentum going into the playoffs.)

  1. Edmonton- Riders will rest best players
  2. Toronto
  3. winnipeg

I just looked at the updated totals. Since I was the only perfect last week, if I manage to go perfect again this week I will have 42 wins. That means I still have a very slight chance of finishing in the top 8.

Well Im not gonna make the top 8 thanks to a midseason nosedive but Im hoping I can crawl up into the top 15-20 in my first year in the VCGGC.

As for my picks:

Saskatchewan
Toronto
Winnipeg

As much as it kills me Im gonna pick the als to finish third thyeve been playing awful all year and got their 7 wins mostly from an easy starting schedule agaisnt a team that was awfull and a team that still needed to come together early on

....EDMONTON OVER Sask.
....TORONTO OVER Mont.
....WINNIPEG OVER B.C.
