Just a few more weeks in the regular season. With Hamilton officially out of the playoffs, and all four western teams officially in, the CFL's post-season picture became a little bit clearer this week. The same can't be said for the VGCC, where the top 8 make the post-season, and there are still a lot of people within reach.
Worth noting is that Ryooon dropped out of first place for the first time this season. His fifteen consecutive weeks with at least a share of first place is the third-longest streak in VGCC history.
Here are the games for Week 17:
B.C. @ Edmonton
Montreal @ Toronto
Winnipeg @ Calgary
Hamilton @ Saskatchewan
Everyone is welcome to participate. To join in, just start making picks. Pick the teams you think will win each game as a response to this thread. While discussion is encouraged, please make your picks clear at a glance. Picks must be in before the scheduled kickoff time in order to be considered for any game. You can see a complete list of the rules here.
I dug myself a deep hole early in the season (1-11 in first three weeks) and have been slowly climbing out (29-19 since). If the season were 10 weeks longer, I may be able to make a run for the playoffs. But like my team, I guess I'll be an observer this post-season. Nevertheless, my picks:
B.C. @ Edmonton: For the same reason I picked the Lions last week, I'm picking the Esks now. Home team wins in a close game. Esks by 4. Montreal @ Toronto: Montreal is way too good to lose to an also-ran twice in three weeks. Als by 20.
Winnipeg @ Calgary: Who knows which Calgary team will show up? At home, I'm expecting them to be good. Stamps by 9.
Hamilton @ Saskatchewan: This game may be closer than some think. Quinton Porter has shown some good things, and just needs experience to become more consistent. Riders by 3.
Ok so this is my first, and yes i know im late but what ever. B.C. @ Edmonton: I think the Lions are too good of a team to lose twice to Edmonton, its going to be like what happened to the Ti-Cats last week. Montreal @ Toronto: the only way Montreal dosent win this game is if they dont care!
Winnipeg @ Calgary: The Stamps are just a better football club
Hamilton @ Saskatchewan: This could be closer then most people think, but i think the riders will pull it off!
Lets see what happens! :rockin:
BC Over Edmonton, I said these two would split the series, and I’ll still hang in there with that thought although its always tough to win at Commonwealth. BC should bounce back from their “stinker” last week. BC by 2
MONTREAL Over Toronto. Tressman wants to keep the momentum going. Mathews…God knows what he wants. Toronto is in disarray. MONTREAL by 14
CALGARY Over Winnipeg. Calgary can control their playoff destiny. The West will continue their mastery over the East. CALGARY by 10
SASKATCHEWAN Over Hamilton. What a better way to break a one game losing streak than to host the Tigercats at home. The Riders can start Gainer at QB and they should still win by two touchdowns. Over by half time. SASKATCHEWAN by 24
The pressure is building. Man why couldn't my first 4-6 weeks have been better than .500.
B.C. @ Edmonton = Edmonton, picking them because it's a win-win. Lions win, I'm happy, esks win I still have a chance to make VGCC playoffs!
Montreal @ Toronto = Montreal
Winnipeg @ Calgary = Winnipeg
Hamilton @ Saskatchewan = Sask
Well, as usual another 3-1 week. I guess I should be thankful because if I do that three more times I'll be in a strong position to make the playoffs. Here are my picks for Week 17:
BC Lions @ Edmonton- I picked BC last week and got burned by that incorrect selection. I won't make that mistake again. Edmonton has played very well at home so far this year, and I don't expect that to change this week. I'm taking Edmonton by 7 points.
Montreal @ Toronto- Montreal is so much better than anyone else in the East that it is almost impossible to pick against them in a game involving another eastern team. Toronto won't change that way of thinking this week, because they are in such disarray. I'm taking Montreal by 15 points, and the final outcome could be higher.
Winnipeg @ Calgary- Calgary is now playing very well, and seems to have gotten over that role of which Stampeders team will show up which week. Winnipeg has improved and will make the playoffs, but beating the Stampeders this week will prove to be too much of a challenge. I'm taking Calgary by 9 points.
Hamilton @ Saskatchewan- The Tiger Cats are just playing out the string, and would love to hurt another team's playoff spot. This week that won't happen, since they are on the road, and the Riders need this game to try to secure second place and possibly get back to the top spot. I think the Riders are starting to get a few of their injured players back, so a healthier Riders team doesn't do anything good for the Ti-Cats. I'm taking Saskatchewan by 14 points, and this could be much worse at the end.
Thanks as always Big Dave, and maybe next week I can finally have my computer fixed and working properly to make my picks in the comforts of home.
Thanks BigDave. Way to scrape your way back up...those rough starts are killer. I know I wish I'd been in from the start...missing a couple of weeks has made it hard to stay in this.
