Virtual Grey Cup Challenge, Week 16

Four weeks left. The playoffs are approaching fast. Remember that the top eight participants qualify for the post-season; with sixteen games still on the schedule, there are A LOT of people still within easy striking distance of the top 8. The standings are posted here.

Here are the games for Week 16:

Hamilton @ Toronto
Edmonton @ B.C.
Winnipeg @ Montreal
Calgary @ Saskatchewan

To join in, just start making picks. You can join in any time, but the later you join, the more difficult it will be to catch up.

To make your picks, reply to this post with your predicted winners. This is a straight-up win/loss pool; point spreads are not taken into account.

To be considered for any game, your pick for that game must be made PRIOR to the scheduled kickoff time. Even if your pick is made one minute late, or the kickoff is delayed, if it's after the scheduled kickoff time, it's late. No exceptions.

To change your picks, post another reply to the thread. Do NOT edit your original post. I may miss the change, or you may invalidate your picks.

While you're free to elaborate on your picks, your predicted winner must be clear at a glance. I don't want to have to read through a five-hundred word essay to figure out which team you're picking. More accurately, I won't.

Conditional picks are not allowed. That is, there is no "Winnipeg if Pierce plays, Edmonton if he doesn't." If you make a conditional pick, I will accept the first team named as your pick.

The complete rules are posted here.

Hamilton @ Toronto: The Argos have the momentum, they're playing at home, and they haven't yet beaten Hamilton this year.

Edmonton @ B.C.: Could change if Lulay can't start, but on the assumption that he's healthy, the Lions take out their frustration at blowing another game on the hapless Esks.

Winnipeg @ Montreal: Possible trap game for my Als, but I still like them at home.

Calgary @ Saskatchewan: Both teams coming off bad losses (Calgary getting whipped by Montreal, Saskatchewan losing to Toronto in their own barn). Tough pick, but I can't see the Riders losing two in a row at Mosaic.

Hamilton @ Toronto: Hamilton is a better team than Toronto, and has demonstrated that twice already. If the defence that shut down Edmonton last week shows up for this game, they'll have no problem against the Argos' non-existent offence. Glenn, Bruce, Stala, and McDaniel will tear apart Toronto's secondary, which should help open up holes for Cobb. The Cats' tendency to keep their opponents in the game will keep this closer than it should be. Cats by 8.

Edmonton @ B.C.: A loss here and the Esks will be all but eliminated from the playoffs. Edmonton was on a bit of a roll before getting their butts handed to them in Hamilton, and the desperation should bring back that team that won two in a row. B.C. has had some wins this past month, despite not playing very well in any of those games. Home field "advantage" hasn't helped the Lions much this year, so this is a tough one to call. Desperation gives Edmonton the edge. Esks by 1.

Winnipeg @ Montreal: The only perfect record remaining this season is Winnipeg's 0-7 record on the road. That's not likely to change in Montreal. The Bombers pulled out a thriller against the Lions, but these are not the Lions. Not much else to say here, except the obvious: Als by hundreds.

Calgary @ Saskatchewan: Saskatchewan can move into a tie for first, and take the tie-breaker with a win here. Calgary is still stinging from their humiliation in Montreal, and can just about lock up first place in the west with a win. Good Hank returns to light up the scoreboard. Riders play well, but can't quite keep up. Stamps by 5 in a high-scoring game.

Hamilton - Toronto’s lack of offense will continue to hurt them. Special teams can’t win every game for you
B.C. - BC is pissed after some players helped to give the game away last week
Montreal - Winterpeg is pretty good, but not nearly that good
Calgary - The real Burris will stand up

After another 2-2 week......

Hamilton @ Toronto - Cant see the Cats sweeping the Argos.....Argos have to be feeling pretty high on themselves too! Confidence can go a long way!
Edmonton @ B.C. - The way the lions lost last week, I could see them quitting on each other now....Edmonton can get back in the playoff hunt....
Winnipeg @ Montreal - Confidence can go a long way, but not this far! Al's are in fine tune mode for playoffs, and looked pretty much unbeatable last week.
Calgary @ Saskatchewan - I am betting on the home team here. Cant see the Riders dropping home games in two straight weeks. Calgary will be in a bad mood though....could be interesting!

Gimme all the home teams.
