USPORTS Football 2024

Laval is leading without a touchdown.

Laurier really has to step up defensively.

Special teams wins championships! Laval kicker just broke the record for most field goals in a Vanier Cup.

Hope they can keep it up!

Crucial play at the worst possible time for Laurier.

What a game! Congratulations Laval!

Laurier had chances, but were overpowered by the privately-sponsored behemoths from Laval.

I won’t mention the 7th field goal attempt going wide :joy:

I congratulate Laval as well.

First time since 2004 (strangely with Laval) a team won without scoring a single TD.

4 fumbles by Laurier.
Not going to win too many games if you can not hold on to the ball.

And Laurier’s QB was pretty fired up first half.

Needed to reign it in a little IMO.

Still think they should have gave up the single and take the ball at the 35.

Giving them better position on the field might have opened up the play book for Laurier and would have saved some precious seconds they needed.

Agreed
BUT
With the beefed FG team out there and everyone bunched up at the line, It gives a great opportunity to take it all the way for the game winning TD

True but with only seconds left they needed a block but couldn’t get through.

They needed a blocked FG
or
A missed FG
The return guy had 2 more guys to beat

Almost made it.

In heat of the moment he may not seen the opening.

Don’t forget the 5 sacks and the dropped passes. Hard to win when you do that. So the Rouge et Or have won the cup 12 times in their 28 year history…. Hmmmm. They’ve lost only twice, to McMaster in 2011 and to Western in 2017.

I’ve always been troubled by the unfair advantage that the ROUGE ET OR has over all other teams since they came into the CIS back in 1996. They are basically a Quebec City team with a huge financial backing from the community. Being a McMaster alumni and supporter, I was ecstatic when we beat them in overtime in 2011 for the Cup.

I am not an alumni of Laval and have no problem with them winning.

Good on them I say.

Historically , Laval has a spring training camp in Florida . Most or perhaps all other Cdn. universities cannot afford this advantage . Go Mac go :+1: :+1:
