The CW has reportedly decided not to renew the program heading into the 2025 campaign. The studio program, which features highlights from the previous week and analysis on the action, is said to have culminated its run on the network after featuring Ryan Clark, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Chris Long and Bill Belichick last season.
It’s great they tried with a new crew on the CW at the very least after all the years of seriously stale blowhards on that show, like especially that damn Cris Collinsworth.
It sounds to me like part of the problem is not so much not having such a show on regular TV, but three out of the four here who are on the show.
Ryan Clark - If you know him from ESPN, you know him. Years ago, he had some pertinent things to say. Since that time, he’s been generally toxic for discussion in general, for he consistently interjects and lectures well beyond sports and does not even stick to context when any given matter indeed is also beyond sport, like most at ESPN or formerly at ESPN since especially 2012. In fact, it seems to me like Clark’s primary subject interest any more is not even sports, so I don’t know why he just does not go to a news media outlet beyond any social media presence at hand.
Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson - His issue is you really don’t know who is in front of you on any given day. Most of the time, he’s simply sounded like he’s simply making crap up off the cuff, which certainly can fly in the locker room, but it won’t stick on TV unless maybe you are an actual actor or comedian. I was not impressed at all when he was on Fox’s World Cup coverage from Qatar. Now he’s damaged goods due to guilt by association with Shannon Sharpe, whether that’s fair or not. Moving on people, moving on …
Bill Belichick - Do we have to elaborate here? He’s a retired NFL coach who is now a pro college coach with now a 24-year old lady in his life. I think he has enough to do in general even if he were not of retirement age, so good on him and he doesn’t need such a show or anything extra at all.
I guarantee you he didn’t care months ago and probably told them in his glib voice: “Okay. That’s how it is. I don’t give a shit.” to which they responded with awe and admiration, “Thank you, Mr. Belichick. And please rest assured that we’ll make sure to keep in touch with you, sir.”
