Unclassy move by some at Friday's game

I understand people being frustrated with Lefors, and I know it's Winnipeg and we like to let anyone not performing as we think they should have it, but when people were booing and making really....ummm....less than respectable comments about the charity work Stefan Lefors does, that's when I think it gets a little over the line, as well as making fun apparently of one of his family member's disability. This is all stuff I heard going on around me. It's one thing to boo the guy for a bad performance, it's a completely different thing to do that stuff.

And then people wonder why some people say Bomber fans are as classy as Philly fans. No we don't boo Santa, we just throw snow balls at him and would probably key his sleigh in the parking lot. Over the last couple home games I've been too I've really started to be embarassed by the things I hear from "fans". I mean with fans like that...why bother playing home games

yeah, I agree with that… boo LeFors’ performance all you want… as of right now it deserves it… booing his charity work or making fun of his family’s disabilities is ridiculous

Yes it is wrong but why is Lefors even involved with charitable work right now. He haven't even established himself as a player on the team. Maybe his "handlers" and "supporters" should be making plays and keeping him out of harms's way. Any intelligent marketing person knows it isn't a good idea to use Lefors as a promotional tool for ANY cause right now and to be offended by a select few, drinking beers and maybe more, trying to find creative ways to inflict the most pain on who they feel is reponsible for the problems is futile.

Another example of stupidity was to hear Bauer come on the radio and promote the "mascot's " birthday and then run off into hidding again. People aren' stupid...

This team can't even pick what "sizzle" to promotel cause they know they don't have a steak to sell at thet other end...

The steak was burnt long ago by Bauer. He only cooks leftover hotdogs from the old Winnipeg Arena at promotional events. The MGT should deal with the problems at hand. That is running a football team. When the issue of winning games is fixed. Then they can move on to fixing social problems.

With the problems MGT has with the Bombers, both Players and MGT have no business at this time spending their time on charities. 100% of their time should be spent on fielding a winning team. Set up a bin for Winnipeg Harvest at the games. But that is as far as it should go. Santa Claus arrives in December. Not July.

Well you can't expect much better can you? This is Winnipeg after all. The people here are generally boorish and unfreindly, the women plain, and the men dull. Anyone able to get out does so, leaving behind a pond that gets more muddy by the day.

Grow up house dog !, their are kids starving in this province an suffering a lot more than we can even imagine. Lefors and the team is trying to ease that a bit . Football isn't all that important, compared to kids who don't have a bed to sleep in or are 5 years old and haven't eaten in 2 or 3 days. I 'm a huge football fan , but if the Bombers can make a difference in even 1 kids life it's worth it. I'd rather the Bombers go 0 and 18 and make a difference than win the Grey Cup and not help disadvantaged children. Guess what kids are hungry in July too, just not at xmas time ! WOW , no class !

Don't feel bad the same thing happened at Taylor Field in Regina on Saturday.

Enjoy the game ,drink, boo, cheer, the plays on the field. If Bomber fan straight RYE would be the drink of choice. But remember it's just a game and don't cross the line, by Booing guys that are donating their time and money for a worthy cause.

Are you one of the those fans I spoke about. I said put in a bin for Winnipeg Harvest at the stadium. That means to the uneducated folk to donate food. The Bombers have their own serious problems. If you are so smart give some of your money to a donation. Or go help Habitat for Humanity build a house. The Social problems can be solved by you and others not a professional footbal team that is now full of incompetance. Also the fans are paying good money to watch entertainment. Not to go to a game and feel guilty about the homeless and hungry.

SO you would like to see the Bombers go 0 and 18. You are not a fan. If you are concerned about the down and out then go get a job working in the welfare office. You will be able to help out and see all Winnipeg's bums. Maybe if you are in a charitable mood you can buy some 50 dollar Bomber tickets and bring some of your homeless friends to the game.

A co-worker of mine who was at the game told me what happened at work today. Pretty 'classy' stuff, indeed. Sometimes I think some people only go to the games to get wasted and yell obscenities at the players.
Come on people, you're making real Winnipeg football fans look really, really bad.

RE : The guy was giving his jersey away, didn't interupt the game , it didn't bother anybody. It had nothing to do with the game. The more you reply to this topic , the worse you look . If it makes you feel like a real man to tear in to kids who may benefit from some charity, from a pro football player, your a sad individual. This has nothing to do with adults , that's where your off base. At least everybody on this forum knows what you stand for ! You should be proud of yourself.

House Dog! You don't get it!

Sports Teams, businesses, entertainers, etc.... ALL have obligation to do a lot for the community they are in - and the better the organization - the more they do! The "W/L" record means nothing compared to how great these people make the less privilaged feel. Whether it's down at the Children's hopital, the "tin for the bin", or regular signing sessions at promotional events. This is all EXTREMELY IMPORTANT - IN ANY CITY, FOR ANY TEAM!

This post says it all! I know we all want to see a successful team - but let's grow up! When the crowd boo'd when it was time to do a draw for an autographed LeFors jersey I was ASHAMED to be a Winnipegger!

This "kick em when their down" attitude is embarrassing! I'm True Blue, but I have to say - Riders fans may boo a perfomance, but at least they stand behind their team! We want to run them all out of the city. WHY - because they aren't playing well. Because some bad decisions have been made! LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE! IT'S A GAME!

Yes, I certainly am proud that I booed Lafors while at the game along with more than half the crowd. I will also boo Bauer and Kelly given the opportunity. As for charity you know where I stand. Let's not cloud the incompetance of our head coach and President with this smoke screen of yours. You were one of many who thought Kelly was a genius. Now you are turning this around on the fans. The fans pay good money to see a good product on the field not a bunch of bums. I am not paying money to attend a charity event. If you think the fans are ugly now, just wait. After a few more losses the Bombers will be coming home to a very mean and ugly crowd. If you don't like what you see then stay home.

I'm sure Mike Kelly is happy you confirmed his comparison of Bomber fans to Philly fans. Man even Philly fans don't boo charity work...what does that tell you?

actually i can agree with housedog on this 1 to some degree some players not all should focus more on the product on the field than worry about other things like i have no problem with the defence going helping out with charity but some of the players need to stay away and focus on there game thats what they are here getting paid for.

Some of the comments i didn't hear in my section about lefors and people dissing his families disabilties but i would not be surprised if his game is ruined he got it pretty bad everything was a shot at him the whole game even when they announced a prize signed lefors jersey everyone booed... I am not saying lefors is the QB for us but is all the blame put on lefors tho like was he the 1 who decided to run 2nd and long 5-10 times that game and shot gun might be where lefors is better and could just be completely uncomfortable under the centre 50 times a game like he put up good numbers everywhere else and everywhere else he played shot gun so who knows.

So what ?? Philly fans. They pay good money to attend games. If someone wants to pay money to a charity event so be it. It's funny you clowns are all knocking the Bomber fans who booed Lafors and are on a big kick about charity. I would bet that some of you cannot even be bothered to buy a tin of beans, or give $ 5.00 to a local food bank. So don't knock me because I booed Lafors. Like I said if you are concerned about the homeless and the needy go help them. I don't feel guilty at all.

Like I said, boo LeFors all you want for his performance.

But LeFors doing charity work sets a good example, it's good for the league, it's like Kitwana Jones chasing down the mugger in Edmonton.. it's what you want to see from people in a position to be role models. Booing someone for that is pathetic.

See that. It happened in Regina. The football capital of Canadian football. We are not all that bad.
