Montreal plays in Edmonton next week, so the only .500 or better team they will have played is the Bombers. I believe they are the best team in the league.
No other team has come out consistantly every week and played good football like the Als have. Record aside, they are without a doubt the best team in the CFL in at the moment.
Guys, you say Montreal has beaten only two teams, and one of them plays for less than .500
Could it be that Winnipeg lost two games and Hamilton three BECAUSE they played the Als? You seem to say the Als got it easy because they played these two teams. But how would you know if these team lost because they were not good enough or if it was because the Als are too strong?
The Bombers beat all the teams they faced except Montreal. And Hamilton did beat the West’s current best team. And Montreal won twice on the road. Who else can say that?
dont get me wrong Montreal has done everything they can, which is win all of their games so credit is do and i fully give it to them.
the whole point of this post was to get people talking about just how good are they?
honestly i think they are the best team in the East, right now! Watch out of the Bombers and TO once Allen is back. But i think despite the lose to Hamilton Calgary is the best team in the CFL.
Calgary has a balanced offence with the best triple threat in the league. Great running back, mobile QB and a top tier recieving core. Their D granted does not look as good as the Als but the Als really havent played a high power Offence yet.
alos keep in mind this post is from a die hard rider fan.
I just checked the CFL standings and low and behold there is one and ONLY one unbeaten team in the CFL and that is the Montreal Alouettes. A team that is 5-0, and has beaten every team on their schedule, in my opinion is a really good team, maybe not the 17-0 1972 Miami Dolphins, but still a very good team. You can only play them in the order that they come on the schedule, so we'll se how good the Alouettes are when they play more of the Western teams in the coming weeks.
Remember, the Alouettes hasn't broken out on offense like everyone expects them to do. They have Anthony Calvillo, Ben Cahoon, Dave Stala, and a very good defense. Calvillo has thrown for 5,000 yards for several years in a row, and there's nothing that would prevent him from doing it again. They are just too good to not be a very strong team for the entire year and a possible Grey Cup Champion.
What Montreal has over the other teams is depth. Talent is very similar across the league but Montreal has more depth then anyone. They lost Okeke and Mudge and it didn't even show. No other team in the league can lose 2 linesman and not miss a beat.
mr rider fan. u forget calgary lost to edmonton, winnipeg beat edmonton twice. calgary also lost to hamilton, montreal beat hamilton twice. calvio is much better then burris, edwards is in the same level as reynolds, and montreal has 4 1000 yard recievers. consistent 4 1000 yard recievers. montreals defence is also better then calgary’s. not shooting down calgary. i think they have a very good team. but montreal takes it from what ive seen
...oh....I think the Bombers had 2 very good o linemen go down in the Montreal game....seems we held up quite nicely against the GREY CUP champs of last year...last night
James, Your explaination is much like yogi's does not make sense! But lately nothing makes sense! Soon apes will be superior to humans! Really until Montreal plays those teams no one knows!

I have to respectfully disagree with you about calgary's offence. I think the are better than montreal's because they can beat you more ways.
First although Edwards is good Reyonds is better. Calvio is a better passer than Burris but Burris is better rolling out and is also a threat to take off any play that makes he harder to play. teams cant rush their ends they have to play contain.
i think at reciever and on special teams the two teams are very even.
Montreal's biggest strength so far has been their D. But up to this point they havent played a top end offence to test this. In fact IMO they have played two of the worst offences. (although the stats say other wise)
See montreal's offence has yet to get going. The als have yet to play a full game but they are still 5-0. The 2nd half has been our saving grace so far. Our D comes through and our O seems to wake up. Either way it is early in the season but remember the als have not played a game in whcih they have been satisfied with.
