The article in the National Post on Wednesday mentioned that there are twenty-four ex-Renegades at this years Grey Cup.
There was so much talent on the team in the last two years and we were so close to a winning team.
It makes me sick. For those who DON'T blame the CFL for Ottawa's problem, there's the proof. WHY DID THE CFL AWARD THE RENEGADES TO BRAD WATTERS and his group if this guy did not have the bucks nor the interest go the distance. He waited for the 2004 Grey Cup and high-tailed out of Ottawa once he had the money. Obviously, Tillman was on the right track and the CFL pulls the plug on the Ottawa fans. And fans from other CFL cities keep saying it was the Ottawa fans' fault? Why didn't the CFL find an owner other than Looney Gleiberman ? Idiots.
Speaking of Tillman (more or less), this gives me an opportunity to test out my new signature.
Its always someones else's fault isnt it?
Funny how the CFL owes you a team and they have to go find and owner!!!!!!!
Who's responsibility should it be?
Say if Bob Young finds running a team too time-consuming and unrewarding and decides to bail tomorrow. Who will be tasked with finding a new owner for Hamilton?
If Bob Young decides to fold the team then yes it would be the leagues responsibility. However, given the choice of a lousy owner and outright folding the team…I would chose the lousy owner…
Blaming the demise of a team on the league is wrong. They tried and failed but at least they tried. Maybe had the fans supported the team more, they would not have failed.
So how is having an idiot like Glieberman, the fans' fault and not the league's ? The league recruited Glieberman.

I would make the same choice. But the choice wasn't given to me (or us). The Gliebermans DID bail.
They came in and promised that it was for the long haul. Lonie lasted about nine months. Making a comment about the long haul implies that you expect at least one lousy season and that you're going to work through it. He didn't want to, and when he didn't want to, his dad couldn't be bothered anymore.
Remember that in the first couple of years the original owners of the Renegades had to financially support the Hamilton Tiger Cats and the Toronto Argonauts. Don't forget that while Ottawa was averaging over 22,000 fans a game in their first two years, Hamilton and Toronto were struggling with crowds of 10 - 14,000. The Ottawa owners were paying into the equalization and bailing out Hamilton and Toronto.
But after Toronto and Hamilton found good owners and Ottawa was stuck with bad owners the CFL decided that Ottawa was the weak link and pulled the plug.
The fans of Ottawa should never be blamed, there was always a hard core season ticket base of 15,000.

It always amazes me to hear how quickly the fans from other cities blame the fans in Ottawa. You've all heard and read Eric Tillman's comments. You've heard that we had a solid season ticket base, you've heard that we had to support both Hamilton and Toronto, yet in the face of all this you continue to blame the fans. Why?
Because you can't deny these facts with proof that your opinion is correct. You fall back on the same argument because you have nothing else to base your position on.
I'll say one last thing. If Jeff Hunt and the boys get that team, staff it with good football people, perhaps even bring back the Rough Riders, the fans will do their part. I guarantee it.
End of discussion.

Amazing eh? I was pulling for Saskatchewan in the Grey Cup this year mainly due to the fact that there were so many ex-Ottawa players on the team. I'm happy for Kerry, Yo, DJ and the rest of the gang. They deserved better than what they got here in Ottawa.
So did the fans.
Meanwhile, Paopao is o-coord at Waterloo and Kani Kauahi was a pass-rush coach for the Arizona Rattlers of the AFL in 2007. They went 4-12 and I believe fired their entire coaching staff after the season.
That's a very appropriate post for Kauahi since he was excellent as Ottawa o-line coach at improving the pass-rush of the other eight teams in the league when they played the Renegades.
If cream rises to the top, I think I know what sinks to the bottom.
To add to the discussion about the obvious pool of talent that the Ottawa Renegades had, a big congratulations to Lawrence Tynes for kicking the opening score for the Super Bowl winning New York Giants this past Sunday.
Let's hope we see a pro football championship here in Ottawa won by Ottawa players who actually still play for an Ottawa team.
Ottawa: City of champions.
Other people's. But champions nonetheless!
