TSN report on Wayne Smith's season-ending injury

Former Ticat OL Wayne Smith reportedly has ruptured his left Achilles tendon and will miss the entire 2009 season. The fact the Cats ironically gained Dan Goodspeed in a three-way deal from the Bombers via the Riders makes this loss even worse for Riderville.

The Tabbies have added to the depth on the O-line through their acquisition of Goodspeed and Gauthier as well as the drafts of promising rookies Simeon Rottier and Zac Carlson. It will be interesting to see how the Riders address this roster issue in the coming weeks -- possibly seeing former Cat Jordan Rempel emerge as a bigger factor in their immediate O-line plans.

Oski Wee Wee,

There is also a report on the Winnipeg Free Press website about Wayne Smith’s injury. He is undergoing surgery tonight. Best of luck to Wayne Smith for a full recovery.

Good luck to Wayne, I wish he were back in Hamilton.

Trade you even up for Goodspeed.....

Time to trade trade Dyakowski or Bekesiak to the Riders for another piece of the puzzle.

OH, that hurts just reading about it!

All the best Wayne for a speedy recovery!

Bob O'Biilovich doesn't post here. :stuck_out_tongue:

That really stinks. I've always like Wayne. He's definately had more than his share of injury problems. I wish him all the best.

You mean "Marcel" doesnt post here.

Anyways, Wayne is a class act all the way. Hope he can come out of this 100%.

I hope Wayne Recovers
he a great guy and one hell of Lineman when Healthy

8) This could also very well be a career ending injury for any athlete !!!

What ever happened to the other half of that trade Mr Flick, has he recovered, has anybody signed him?

Indeed, Tip.

More on Achilles injuries can be read on these pages:

Oski Wee Wee,

I was wondering about him myself. I thought it was a little odd that nobody was even willing to give him a look.

CFL ca. still lists him as a free agent, nothing on injury, can injury still be an issue.

The other half of the Wayne Smith + Mr DJ Flick trade was Rocky Butler...... I almost thought you were thinking about getting Rocky back for training camp. Rocky didn't even get onto our All-time Roster .

Oskee Wee Wee

We'll consider that after Wayne recovers.
