Waste of time, the whole thing. Didn't learn a single thing from watching that show that I didn't already know. I really wish they'd start getting into the Xs and Os of the game on television and stop this surface-level garbage.
I missed the show, I was on my way home from Calgary but anyways did they really hand out predictions on records and stuff? or just talk about the offseason moves and previews of rosters? I know the June 28th show is where they give regualr season and GC predections. I also think Sportsnet does a preview show to (although kinda half a$$ed if you ask me) but if someone could give me a link to watch it online or just a recap right here would be great!! :cowboy:
Yeah, I love how all they said was “Hamilton’s running game will be better, now let’s look at the secondary. Now the secondary on this team is gunna be a question but they have a new DC.NEXT”
WTF?
5 minutes of pure crapola, I know people that hardly follow the team and could do better than that.
Well I taped it and will watch it, some anyways, I need a CFL fix and much of what is on TV is crap so any CFL talk with even some video is good in my books right now.
The thing is, it can’t be a lack of football knowledge holding them back. Climie, Dunigan, and Schultz are all ex-players with a wealth of technical knowledge about the game. So this direction must be coming from the head honchos at TSN. I suppose the rationale is: don’t alienate the casual fans by talking over their heads. In my opinion, though, a casual fan would never tune in to watch a training camp preview special. A show like that should be targeted directly at diehard CFL football fans who know what’s what and who deserve a better hour of programming than content like “Hamilton will be better at running back,” and “Can the Als replace Avon Cobourne?”
I would have liked more info per team, however, I also liked seeing dunigan working out with some receivers. Take away the concussion issue and he looks like he could still play at 50.
Usually at this time of year, I am still in full NHL playoff mode and not ready to turn my mind to the CFL until its over, but watching this show got me thinking football already. For better or worse, I am glad they did the show.
I was surprised when someone mentioned Dunnigan being 50. He certainly doesn't look it.
I agree with the others. The show was lacking. They showed the players who were signed/released, and then each guy made a 60-second comment, and that was it. Some of the other stuff was cool, like Dunnigan working out with the receivers, but the rest... eh. It would've been nice to learn about some of the new guys, learn why other guys might have been released, etc. Maybe the season preview show will be better.
i know i sound like a broken record, but it woulda been nice if they did a small spot on the chances of the three Canadian QB's making it. if nothign else but because it was made such a big deal out of a couple months ago.
At this point in time there isn't really that much they could talk about regarding each team. Who knows what the rosters will look like until closer to the end of TC. I think this was more of a recap of the off-season show than a preview show.
even could have been more of a reminder and a buildup to get people to watch the pre season action. i dont recall ever watching pre season CFL on tv (although they could have when all i had was peasent vision as a kid). so even if they did show it, it has been a while. needs a bit of a boost to get people interested.
It is either the 27th or 28th. Those are the two days that they had on the graphic showing all the CFL-related shows they’d be airing the week the season starts. There was at least six shows: top-50 players, top Canadians with Duane Forde, top-10 plays of 2010, a Huddle for Haiti special, season preview and one more I can’t remember. But all of them were scheduled to air on June 27th or 28th.
