Trestman to bears (Rumour)

I saw a report that the Bears are interested in Tom Clements.

Plus it's also being reported that this is only the first round of interviews. The finalists still have to be named and be interviewed by the owner and other top dogs.

Montreal radio report to be announced in the morning.

Let me be the first one to nominate Ego Jones as the next HC in Montreal.

Good for him.

I suspect the next time we see Mark Trestman up here in Canada will be when he gets inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

This is another confirmation of the saying on Wall Street (Bay Street up there) "Buy on a rumour, sell on announcement."

Trestman beat out 12 other guys for the job including Bruce Arians of Steelers and Colts accomplishment amongst the finalists!

sounds good to me !

Toronto might need him if Trestman takes Milanovich with him.

All the best to him, class act all the way.

Well all the best except when they play the Vikings.

A great coach and truly a class act.
Good luck in the NFL coach.

Manitoba Bisons photo of a player, Ryan Karhut, in this American article talking about Marc Trestman. Had played for the Als.

Why would Milanovich leave now? He’s probably making more as a HC than he would as a NFL OC plus with the extension he signed in November he has pretty good job security.

And Naylor has tweeted that Lapo and Greg Marshall are names to watch as a replacement. Personally I can’t see Jones going for a HC job. He’s made it pretty clear he’s more interested in management that being a HC.

From TSN’s website:

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, former Saints interim head coach Aaron Kromer has accepted the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach job with the Bears.

I wrote Kromer has been hired. A coordinator in the NFL makes around a million dollars. Milanovich makes between 250 and 300k. I don’t think you know much about the NFL business model.

Bitter/sweet day for the the CFL as the league loses a great coach and an even better person. However, it's great to see Trestman given the proper recognition he deserves by becoming an NFL head coach. This could very well be another Marv Levy situation here. Strangely enough, a move like this will help legitimize the league more in the eyes of some north of the 49th.

Also, the way Trestman handled a potential move to the NFL (passing on slightly more lucrative offers from previous NFL teams to be a position or assistant coach), choosing to rather to wait until somebody offered him a head coaching position, should serve as a template to both coaches and players alike who have in the past (and I suspect will continue to in the future) take any, and I mean ANY offer an NFL team puts in front of them.

.....Great for him, bad for the Montreal organization.....It should open some doors for other coaches but how many really have had the record of a Marc Trestman here and in the nfl....We'll see how he does???As far as taking other CFL people with him...I'm sure, like Trestman, they'd luv to get the chance...He knows who is talented in this league and he 'could' make offers to some...It;s sad when you think that their 'waterboys' make as much money down there as some of our assistants (slight embellishment) But true in the sense, we are at their mercy, as far as compensation goes...We'll see what we shall see...

Don't think it's sad pap at all. Football is huge, huge business down there as others have said while football here is not the no. 1 sport and Canada is what about a tenth of the size of the US in population.

When sports becomes so big as it is in the US, you get issues like full scholarships for university for people who don't deserve to be there and are taking away, maybe in cases, spots in university for students far more deserving. Sports is too big biz down there for my liking and in many ways hope this never translates to Canada even though in many ways it already has unfortunately.

I know Milanovich isnt going anywhere, but if he was offered the chance he would definitely take it. He’d be approximately making in one year down there what it would take 3 years here.
