Trestin George's request for release granted by Lions

From TSN:

Import defensive back Trestin George has been released by the BC Lions at the request of the player.

"Trestin is dealing with ongoing medical situation within his family and has asked for his release from the club so that he can remain in the Oakland area," said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono.

"By releasing Trestin, he can not only remain close to his family during this time, but also continue to have an opportunity to support them by playing for the San Jose SabreCats of the AFL. We're disappointed that he will not be with our organization, but we support his decision to put family ahead football at this point in his career."

George appeared in 16 games over two seasons with the Lions and recorded 39 defensive tackles.

Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2006, the Pasadena, California, native played college football for the San Jose State Spartans. George also played for the Arena Football League's San Jose SaberCats.

I hope the medical situation will be resolved positively for him and his family.

Bad news for him and his family. :frowning:
