Training Camp

I hope Gable isn’t going to suffer the J Lumsden Syndrome.

Jesse thought he had fully recovered from his serious shoulder injury only to have his football career ending on his first direct hit, IIRC, in his first game back with the Esks :frowning:

HAMILTON, ONT. – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today the team has signed international running back Michael Ford and international defensive lineman Sean Daniels.

There is some good news on the #TIcats injury front: DT @MikeAtkinson99 is practicing fully today. Key Canadian depth player

June 15th is cutdown to 65 players
June 21st the team must name its 46 man roster

Almost half of these players won't make it! :expressionless:
Absolute brutal way to make a living.

Two more additions to the #Ticats injured list: RB Nic Grigsby & DB Johnny Sears. #CFLTC #CFL

OUCH !!!! So does this mean that they are both officially placed on IL or that they are both just not practicing ? Hopefully just not practicing.

Drew also tweeted that Austin has said Bulcke is out for the season. :thdn:

What the hell are the odds that Gable, Madu, and Grigsby all get injured. Seriously, I am afraid to check for updates each day because it never seems to be good news. Lets just hope they both arent serious injuries and are good to go against Calgary. Training camp cant end any sooner this is getting ridiculous.

And before i can even post this JerkFaceLoser updates that Bulcke is gone for the year, this is getting depressing.

Another drizzly day at training camp, cutdown to 65 from 75 players after today. :expressionless:

Is cutdown today at 10pm ?!

Cutdown is no later than 23:59 hours today.

Arblows have already made their cuts

2 NAT OL's and Veteran DB Alex Suber let go

TORONTO -- The first domino has fallen on Sunday, as the Toronto Argonauts have announced the release of veteran defensive back Alex Suber along with seven others as the first round of roster cuts arrives.

With pre-season Week B in the books, teams are required to trim down their rosters to 65 players plus non-counters by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Also released by the Argos are the following players:

OL Joe Circelli, NAT, Western
WR Ronald Johnson, INT, USC
RB Lyle McCombs, INT, Connecticut
K/P Andrew Muzljakovich, INT, Olivet Nazarene
OL Austin Roy, NAT, Michigan Tech
WR Brandon Terry, INT, Wake Forest
DB Donald Washington, INT, Ohio State

Suber, a CFL veteran of six years, was the Argos' second most experienced defensive back in training camp behind only safety Matt Black, now entering his eighth season. The Middle Tennessee State alum registered 249 tackles, four interceptions and six fumble recoveries in five years between Winnipeg and Toronto, and while standing only five-foot-seven, he's earned a reputation for his physical play.

... t-down-day

I just did some quick calculating and if my figures are correct the Cats current roster has 90 players listed. The breakdown I got was 4 players already gone for the season , so basically 6 gamed IL (Gaydosh,Bulcke,Watt,Madu)and my total for non-counters (drafted/excempt/non draft-1rst TC)was 11 players. So taking all that into consideration if my calculations are correct then to get down to the allotted 65 mandatory limit the team will have to release at least 10 players on the first round of cuts later today. It will be interesting indeed with all the nagging injuries endured during this camp to see who gets the axe in this initial round of cuts.

#Ticats also move @bbulcke to 6-game injured list & suspend RB @CJ_Gable, DB @Mr513RicoMurray, DE Antonio Coleman, who are also injured #CFL

Drew Edwards ?@scratchingpost 2m2 minutes ago
#Ticats cut OLs Kevin Henry, Stephane Milhim, WR Deon Anthony, LBs Larry King, Chris Johnson, DB Cleshawn Page.

At least 10 , man this going to be intesting for sure as the axe starts chopping today

Thanks for the update Grover  and before anybody gets in a flap about Gable and Murray being suspended, relax it’s only a formality as there is no official 1 gm IL until the regular season starts.Placing players on the suspended list is just another loophole that teams use in T.Camp to allow them more wiggle room on the roster when it comes to cut downs. As for the cuts no real surprises with Johnson being the only vet let go. Johnson only dressed for 2 games last year and spent the majority of the season on the PR. with Landry,Plesius and draftees Archembault,Langa,O’Mara all at LB this season Johnson was basically a long shot to make the team this year anyway.

With injuries to four WRs, #Ticats sign international WR Jasper Collins, move national Giovanni Aprile to suspended to make room. #CFL

HAMILTON, ONT. – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today the team has signed international wide receiver Jasper Collins.

Collins, 23, spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals in 2014. He originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins on April 27, 2013. He was released by Miami on August 3 and spent the 2013 season on the Cleveland Browns practice squad.

The 5-10, 185-pound native of Geneva, New York, suited up in 52 games at the University of Mount Union from 2009 to 2012, registering 232 receptions for 3,527 yards and 37 touchdowns. In 2012, Collins collected the second-most receiving yards in a season in Mount Union history with 1,694 on 92 catches including 22 touchdown receptions. For his efforts in 2012, Collins was named to the All-OAC First Team and’s All-American First Team, and took home’s North Region Offensive Player of the Year honours.

The Ticats also announced the following player has been added to the suspended list:
NAT – WR – Giovanni Aprile

NAT WR-Jabari Arthur is available, I wonder if Austin would look at him, He is 32 yrs old, maybe time has caught up to him
