It has just be confirmed that former Stampeder broadcaster, Billy Powers and his wife were found murdered in their home this morning. Billy was a voice of the Stampeders for decades and was a great friend of the CFL.
Very sad news and condolences if true!
Terrible news. Bill was an institution in Calgary for decades.
I am an Eskimo fan but am also a long time Stampeder season ticket holder. I knew Billy well, he was great guy, great story teller and a very funny man. He will be greatly missed.
http://www.newstalk770.com/RememberingBillyPowers.aspxI always listened to the games when I was out of town and listened to Bill Powers. Most Recently he was selected to lead the “Ride for Dad” as our honorary “Road Captain”. He will be missed!
:cowboy:A Sun story suggests police suspect they know who is responsible for the murders.

I've always liked Calgary--lived there for 2 years. Great city, sad times :cowboy:
