Toronto v Hamilton

As I mentioned earlier in the week, losing Brandon Issac to suspension would improve the run defence. Turns out Toronto sat their entire LB corp as Bobby McCune and Marcus Ball joined Issac on the sideline.

And imagine that - - Toronto defence has their best game of the season stopping the run.

WIth Kuale being moved back to MLB, does that mean there’s a chance Ego Jones has finally realized that’s where Kuale belongs instead of being hopeless out of place at DE?

Biggest difference besides the LBs was the change in coaching scheme on both sides of the ball.

Argos actually gave their RB 15 carries - - most in two months - - and Riggs put up 112yds on the ground. And allowed their QBs to open things up with some downfield throws beyond 7yds. See what a balanced offence can do, Scotty?

Maybe all the new guys on the DLine meant that Ego Jones couldn’t run so many of his stupid schemes of having them chip receivers and drop into coverage. For the most part the DLine was finally allowed to rush the passer tonight.

The results? Argos put up three sacks and drew three false start penalties and two holding calls. Toronto had good pressure on Hank all night. Foley especially, in likely his last regular season game with the Argos, was beating both Hamilton OTs badly.

Just imagine if Ego Jones would take the same approach with his four starting DLinemen.

Surprisingly, this was Toronto's most exciting game of the season. Way better turn out than I was expecting and quite a few Hamilton fans also made the trip. Great atmosphere at the Dome tonight, and especially satisfying to see Toronto be the ones to end Hamilton's season for the second time in three years.

Argos were agressive on both sides of the ball. Jackson's 50yd deep ball to start the game really set the tone. Argo defence had some punishing hits - - especially Evan McCullough of all people. Does it have to be a meaningless game before Milanovich and Ego Jones will stop over complicating their schemes and out thinking themselves?

This was the style of game that Toronto needs to play every week if they want to draw crowds above 25,000.

Uhh, Hamilton was down 10-0 early and 20-3 after one quarter. Of course they would stick to the pass and abandon the run; the defense didn’t make Cobourne get only three carries. Toronto’s defense gave up almost 500 yards of offense, I’m not sure if giving up 40 points deserves a pat on the back.

Scary moment towards the end of halftime when it was announced a child had gone missing. As a parent, there’s nothing worse you could hear. Fortunately they announced a short time later the child had been located.

Big ups to the fans and security that helped locate the girl so quickly.

One of their historic stats is allowing a bazillion points against. The offense on this team is good enough to be a contender.
