Eight mill and nothing in the trophy case, not even a game ball or game worn jersey unless he stole one from quality control or had it deducted from his eight million dollar salary. Sad to get compensate for not being good enough to win a starting job
Okay I'll give you that one but still you got it man he's never going to be Jim Kelly when it comes to actually playing Jim Kelly still the better quarterback
Chad had the ability to be like Uncle Jim, but he squandered it away.
Isn't that most NFL players though? What has Chris Streveler done in the NFL besides collect a paycheck while riding the pine? $8 million to throw a few TD's a year without getting my body ripped apart, where do I sign up?!?
I agree!
To give another example, I saw Arizona naming Colt McCoy as their game starter and I had a "wait, he's still in the NFL?!" moment.
Cashing cheques and keeping his knees healthy. It's a good gig. Given the choice, I for one would rather be an NFL backup and get more money than a CFL starter.
I was surprised to learn how long the list of these guys are right now given the quarterback shortage. Colt "(excrement)" McCoy has had just that reputation since he entered the league, but damn if he is still there!
On the other hand, a couple of decades ago, Toronto had decent attendance and fans. But the demographics has changed, it sure is different from the prairie provinces.
Some food for thought - comments?
Argos need proper ownership. Someone that cares. Someone with lots of cash. Someone like BC owner Amar Doman.
They're improving, slowly. Mike Hogan has done excellent work since they hired him.
It’s sad. Toronto is a storied CFL franchise and not many of its sports fans seem to care. It’s also strange considering that this team almost never loses a Grey Cup, underdog or not. I admire you diehard Argo fans.
Keep the faith!
And again a few years ago the green Riders were at deaths door
Things come and go
The Als folded
Reborn from Baltimore as a juggernaut
And once again a very weak unstable franchise
If memory serves Edmonton is the only team out of 9 who has not been in trouble the past couple of decades (and who knows the horrible play + Elks rebrand may put them in serious trouble now...)
One thing Argos have had from MLSE is a fairly stable franchise despite attendance woes
I just find it odd they do not do much to market the team
I can fondly remember the good old days of going to Argo games at CNE stadium and they always had at least 30-35,000 fans there !!
When the TiCats played a playoff game there, it was always a jam packed sell out.
Sadly , how times have changed now !!
Your right, but it was a two sport town.
Here's one young fan who probably cares a bit more about the Argos now.
Edit:
And maybe the parents too, now.
Three as Jays were well established by that point & as been said a few times the SkyDome was (initially) being pushed for the Argos after Grey Cup 1982 they were big dogs in town behind the Leafs
They won't drop below 25,000 until 1988, get a big spike next year, and ride high until disaster in 1994 (so technically collapse occur while TO is still a 3 sport town, as this is still pre-Raptors
Funny thing also; those same 1995-96 Raptors who stunk out the place also sold tickets like mad. No other Raptors team would even draw close to what they drew, not even the championship team (2018-19) who drew "millions".
