Toronto Argos Will Not Re-Sign Boris Bede

It is a sad day to be an Argo fan.

As per Bede’s instagram account;

“Dear city of Toronto, Today I say goodbye to the organization that decided to go in a different direction. I want to thank the club for helping me become a better player, leader, and person and for making my family and I feel at home during my time here.4 years ago I was traded to Toronto the day I found out that Julie and I were gonna have our first born. We were excited about the new opportunity and project that was in place. Bringing Toronto back to the top of the league as an organization . 3 consecutive division winner and 1 grey cup later I think we did it. After these years I can only say thank you to the club, city and the fans that have supported me since day 1! To my all my teammates that I cross paths with, thank you for making me better, sharing your culture and background, holding me accountable at all time and jamming to all my choices of music! If there is anything I can do for y’all I’m a phone call away! You guys are family. I would like to thank people from the organization that we don’t hear about but that makes our job as players so much easier! Thank you to my coaches and management for trusting me during those years. Thank you josh, mark, Val and Amanda, Dwight that made sure I was always game ready. Thank you Danny, Dave, Tom and Sid for making sure our footballs were always top-notch and keeping up with my gameday rituals lol Thank you to usama and Dana on the strength side for making sure that my off seasons and In season training were going well and welcoming both of my boys in the gym so I could workout, that means the world to me and created core memories for them! Thank you to media, Aiden, chris, hogan, Sean for capturing content & great memories! Thank you to ownership,Mlse, bill manning, Melissa, Linda, Simmi, Christine, mj and the whole downtown office for making sure that the we were present in the community! Talking about community! I want to say thank you to my applewood neighbours who adopted my family and I as their own, you guys will never be forgotten and it’s not a good bye to you guys but a see you soon! Thank you from my family and I we’re gonna miss you! Now moving to another chapter!

As they say this has to be a “business decision” trying to free up some cap space money to sign much needed vets that are still unsigned. Boris is classed as an import so, if they can find a cheaper Canadian to kick that would also make room for another American backup making the minimum. Or they could go with another Global kicker making the minimum which would keep the import ratio the same as the extra Global kicker would count towards the Import number. Either way X number of dollars freed up to help sign one or more of their free agents they want to retain. Teams have to make difficult choices this time of year.
