#39

Why is this guy not getting more playing time?????? this is great talent being put to waste, truly unfortunate. someone should realize that he is a true defensive leader. utilize this man more, its disappointing we could have a trio of canadians starting at the LB positions, but due to selfish people above them, they are not allowed to roll together, #42 #39 #44 , those 3 should all be starting and if you think otherwise you should check yourself before you wet yourself

The Defence has played well in every game that Bobby Brooks was our starting middle linebacker. That's all I'm gonna say about this.

edit: Bobby, not Derek. Oh, how I wish we had Derek too.

I have only really see Brooks do one thing well...make plays. That being said I like him and #39 where they are. Next time you watch a game with #39, watch how hesitant he is. When blitzing he take 2 half steps and if he meets any opposition he bugs out. I have always been taught that blitzing is an all or nothing kind of thing. When run-stopping he steps backward and holds on to limit the run to a 6 yard gain.

I think we need a MLB that will step up and make plays, not one who is trying to br invisible.

Barrenechea is playing just fine and the are using his talents well.

SPECIAL TEAMS. That is what he excels at and where he belongs.

I have definitely become a Brooks fan and i like the way the guys in question are currently being played. (Subject to change, of course)

I would point out that in the course of a season, one is never really sure who is injured or for how long a given injury prevails. I believe this is because, the coaches don't want to tip their hand to the opposition by admitting that someone (say #39) is still ailing. Always keep your opponents guessing and the fans too, I guess.

Honest!! I didn't look at the team history...

but, didn't Ed Turek have #39 back in the 70's?......he was a great punt returner for the Tiger-Cats if memory serves....and a great coach/teacher at Glendale High School (I went to Glen Brae Public but moved to Stoney Creek before high school so I never was a student of his)

sorry to change the subject slightly....

I think that at times too much emphasis is placed on who is starting and who is playing how much as in the case of Barrenechea/Brooks and Ranek/Holmes.

Each player brings his own strengths and weaknesses that team is exploiting quite well so far IMO.

Ed Gataveckas was #39 in the 80’s. He was perennial backup for about 6 years

Yeah he was my Gym teacher when I was in High School. He also coached the Jr Football team.

Not history Mikey…trivia
