Tony Gabriel items auctioned off for over $11,000 (U.S)

I was surprised that the value of a 70's Ticats jersey was as high as $2,000 U.S....... I wonder how much it was all worth in Canadian Dollars ?

OTTAWA — When former Ottawa Rough Riders great Tony Gabriel decided to auction off some memorabilia from his playing days, he said of all the items, it was his jerseys that meant the most to him.

It turns out they also meant the most to collectors earlier this week when the game-worn shirts were auctioned in suburban Montreal.

The Canadian Football League Hall of Fame tight end saw the bidding for his 1981 black, red and white No. 77 Riders jersey and his early-’70s Hamilton Tiger-Cats jersey close Tuesday at more than $2,000 US apiece.

Glad to see in the article that he is not having financial problems as the reason why he held the auction. I have had the pleasure of playing in 3 charity golf events with Tony and he is a true gentleman.

Onknight...you might want to consider this as your way of drumming up money for your season tickets...auction off your memorabilia. Much less controversial than your current method!

Kind of wish I'd known about it ahead of time. Always been a fan of Gabriel.
