...Canada sealed his fate when he refused to report to the hammer..I don't think any team will take a chance on a guy with his attitude....It was a pretty good career Tommy ...thanks for the memories...adios..This is a tough business sometimes
It dosen’t bother you that Winnipeg is ditching him for nothing (not official yet) ?
In some cases maybe you can take a chance on a guy but this team is in not in a position to take chances on a guy like that especialy when there are some real talented guys looking to test free agency. If Obilovich is going to free up money from a Printers contract spend it on a sure thing, please.
I don’t think disliking someone’s work ethic and attitude makes us thin-skinned, Ron. Neither does questioning whether he’s got any gas left in the tank. I have never been a fan of Canada and it has nothing to do with him not wanting to come here. Has more to do with wanting people here who are talented AND have some integrity. I don’t see anything wrong with that.
PS. Thanks Hfxtc. I’d take the job, but I don’t think I’m “diplomatic” enough to do it.
…as of today Kelly is saying that Canada has not been released, when speaking of Sheridans departure…however that confirmation ‘might’ not be far off…I guess everyone better wait and see before jumping on the ‘so-long Tommy wagon’
Some big 'ifs' here. If he's healthy and if he's got his head screwed on straight and if he's willing to take a pay cut, I'd bring him to camp. It's not like the Cats had a great pass rush in 2008. In fact, it was non-existant in many games. If the stars are lined up right, he could be a useful player in Hamilton.
And those "ifs" really are huge.......especially the one about his head being screwed on right.
I don't believe anyone would argue with you about the Cats' pass rush (or, rather, lack thereof) in 2008; nothing hurt the Cats' secondary more than the fact that opposing QBs had waaaaay too much time to find the open receiver.
So an upgrade is desperately needed; I think I'd be looking elsewhere first, and if I couldn't find enough decent D-linemen, then and only then would I consider Canada, and I'd have to deal with those "ifs".
Agreed!! My guess is that the Cats’ secondary wasn’t nearly as bad as the D-line hung them out to be. A better pass rush might just ‘fix’ the secondary too.
If the Ticats have any interest in Tom Canada, his spleen should be thoroughly examined by the team doctor and a by specialist in Hamilton. If they conclude that he has an enlarged spleen, he should not be signed. If they conclude that he has never had an enlarged spleen, he should not be signed.
since we lost moreno already, the only ray of light i can take from this move by the bombers is that they lost their 1st round pick for nothing. and if corey mace (a big IF) works out, even better.
“Yea bro they released me today at 4:01 central,? said Canada in an e-mail from Costa Rica, where he spends the winter. “Freaking weird but such is life. I was kind of expecting it, though, since I have a large bonus due in a couple weeks. Not sure what I’ll do now but I’ll let you know. But the surf is good.?
