Tom Canada looking for a job...as per ourbombers

Maybe if a particularly biting comment was directed at me
but not about some self-serving comment a pro athlete says.

Let’s face it, our continual losing record, the smokestacks in the background
and our dark, dungeon-like visitors dressing rooms with cold showers

will bring comments from a player like Tom Canada who
apparently never read Emily Post’s rules for manners.

...Canada sealed his fate when he refused to report to the hammer..I don't think any team will take a chance on a guy with his attitude....It was a pretty good career Tommy ...thanks for the memories...adios..This is a tough business sometimes :expressionless:

Once Tom was declared medically unfit to be traded, papazoola
it didn't matter that he said that he wouldn't come to Hamilton

he didn't have the opportunity prove that
he meant it by actually not reporting

so he has got a clean slate in that regard.

As I said before, I would welcome him

It dosen’t bother you that Winnipeg is ditching him for nothing (not official yet) ?

In some cases maybe you can take a chance on a guy but this team is in not in a position to take chances on a guy like that especialy when there are some real talented guys looking to test free agency. If Obilovich is going to free up money from a Printers contract spend it on a sure thing, please.

If Winnipeg just releases Tom Canada, then,
we don't have to trade anyone to get him,

We can give him a shot at training camp,

then, If he isn't up to standards, we can
cut him after training camp, HfxTC.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I used to live in the Hammer but moved to BC in 2003. Maybe life in the west has softened me :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t think disliking someone’s work ethic and attitude makes us thin-skinned, Ron. Neither does questioning whether he’s got any gas left in the tank. I have never been a fan of Canada and it has nothing to do with him not wanting to come here. Has more to do with wanting people here who are talented AND have some integrity. I don’t see anything wrong with that.

PS. Thanks Hfxtc. I’d take the job, but I don’t think I’m “diplomatic” enough to do it.

…as of today Kelly is saying that Canada has not been released, when speaking of Sheridans departure…however that confirmation ‘might’ not be far off…I guess everyone better wait and see before jumping on the ‘so-long Tommy wagon’

Who's right here? Is he available or not? If so, how healthy is he?

Officialy looking for work...the man was released for nothing....Looks like only one team was interested in giving up an All star...

Also reason why Ticats shouldn't trade for Glenn...just sit and wait...Patience is a virtue...

Some big 'ifs' here. If he's healthy and if he's got his head screwed on straight and if he's willing to take a pay cut, I'd bring him to camp. It's not like the Cats had a great pass rush in 2008. In fact, it was non-existant in many games. If the stars are lined up right, he could be a useful player in Hamilton.

And those "ifs" really are huge.......especially the one about his head being screwed on right.

I don't believe anyone would argue with you about the Cats' pass rush (or, rather, lack thereof) in 2008; nothing hurt the Cats' secondary more than the fact that opposing QBs had waaaaay too much time to find the open receiver.

So an upgrade is desperately needed; I think I'd be looking elsewhere first, and if I couldn't find enough decent D-linemen, then and only then would I consider Canada, and I'd have to deal with those "ifs".

If Obie and Marcel are at all curious to know whether
Tom Canada can be re-motivated and re-energized

they have a good guy to consult with, Greg Marshall,

and if he thinks Tom can return to near top form
then, let's go for it but I would bet against it now.

He seems to have fallen in love with the surfing life
and building and living in his new home in Costa Rica

but then again words are only words

He may have just said what he said because he could sense that
Winnipeg would rather release him than pay him his upcoming bonus.

Who knows what he is really thinking.

Agreed!! My guess is that the Cats’ secondary wasn’t nearly as bad as the D-line hung them out to be. A better pass rush might just ‘fix’ the secondary too.

If the Ticats have any interest in Tom Canada, his spleen should be thoroughly examined by the team doctor and a by specialist in Hamilton. If they conclude that he has an enlarged spleen, he should not be signed. If they conclude that he has never had an enlarged spleen, he should not be signed.

That’s a great post…

I have faith that neither Tom Canada nor the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
influenced some physician in Winnipeg to falsify Tom’s medical report

but you are right, his spleen and all the rest of his body, for that matter
should be thoroughly examined by the Ticat doctor and/or a specialist.

Forget his spleen. I'd check his heart and head first!!!

You put a

1-football

2-Banana

3-Surf Board

4- Bong

on a table and you see which one he goes for first.

since we lost moreno already, the only ray of light i can take from this move by the bombers is that they lost their 1st round pick for nothing. and if corey mace (a big IF) works out, even better.

a quote by canada from this article

“Yea bro they released me today at 4:01 central,? said Canada in an e-mail from Costa Rica, where he spends the winter. “Freaking weird but such is life. I was kind of expecting it, though, since I have a large bonus due in a couple weeks. Not sure what I’ll do now but I’ll let you know. But the surf is good.?
