Timmy Chang arrested

Spotted this in the Honolulu Advertiser this a.m. Seems like a minor incident, maybe police won't lay charges. Either way, he's trying to get hired at the university and this publicity probably won't help his cause. I don't have the link handy, but the story's short:

Ex-UH quarterback Chang arrested in robbery case

Former record-setting University of Hawai'i quarterback Timmy Chang was arrested today after a woman reported that a man stole her camera as she filmed a brawl last month.
Chang, 27, was arrested at 7:35 a.m. at his Mililani home and was booked for investigation of one count of second-degree robbery. He was released without charges pending further investigation.
Police said the incident occurred shortly after midnight June 1 in the Pearlridge area. A large fight broke out and a 23-year-old woman told police she began to record the brawl on her camera.
A man, identified by police as Chang, allegedly told the woman to stop filming the fight. A struggle ensued, police said, and the man pulled the camera from the woman's wrist and threw it on the roof of a nearby building.
The man was later identified as Chang, police said. Chang could not be reached for comment tonight.
Chang starred as a quarterback at Saint Louis School and went on to set many passing records for the University of Hawai'i Warriors. His collegiate career ended in 2004 and he was on the roster of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.
He also played in the Canadian Football League for Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Chang left football and planned to work as a student assistant in the UH athletics department. Jim Donovan, UH athletics director, said last night that Chang has yet to be hired.
Donovan said he had not heard about Chang's arrest and could not comment.

At least he didnt under throw the camera.

Well his arm never really was a Canon. I guess he has one now.

Good one!

Sounds like all he did was enforce a bit of privacy. I don't agree with people who go around filming everything. Kind of a stalker-like activity if you ask me. I don't see how its robbery as he didn't keep it. Should be a vandalism or mischief charge.

I dont see any reason for him to be arrested as there really was no physical evidence around to prove he is guilty. there is always a reasonable doubt in regards to a case with no physical evidence so in my books (and what should be courts too) he is not Guilty

He tried to steal the starting QB job while he was here so he does have a bit of history going against him.

can we get a link to this?

Not sure how they call it robbery.

That's such a silly charge. Chang was clearly just trying to protect his mates perhaps from being video-taped in a scrap.

According to what I see on Dog the Bounty Hunter, Hawaii cops have lots of "real"criminals to chase instead of wasting their time on this nonsense.

Why didn't they just go to Chang, ask him to replace the camera and be done with it..........why all the drama with a robbery charge for cripes sakes.

Maybe they tried to give him an easy out and he didn't take it?

Wow I thought the QB vultures here were inventing stuff to give Chang a hard time. There has to be more to it or the police should be the ones up on charges
